Made it to onederland
I honestly dont get here much any more. Its funny how your life changes the further out of surgery you are. Heck, I'm not even sure I know anyone on this message board anymore, but somehow people who haven't had this surgery just don't get it.
My name is Kelly and I had Open RNY 10-19-04. I weighed in at 383lbs the summer before my surgery and was 363.5 the day before. After my GBS, i was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and have had to have multiple rounds of highdose steroids during relpases, so I'd pretty much gotten stuck at 210-230. Granted, that was much better than the 300 plus pounds I was before surgery.
Recently, I contracted a summer virus. Now I won't say it was fun, but it did push me over the edge into onederland. Today, I weighed 195lbs and have been under 200 for over a week now, so I'm hoping I won't make the jump back above 200. I'm sure if I was more diligent about getting my protein in and drinking water, I'd do better; but I had to force myself to drink water the first year and half after the GBS and despise it. Heck, it's still a chore to get in three meals a day. But the upside is I was previously a size 30-32 and now I fit into a 14, and even some 12s.
Good luck to all of you who have either had surgery or are still in the process of getting approved.
Congratulations Kelly! Welcome to onederland!!
I hope you will continue to post and visit the board. We are a pretty friendly group. I sounds like you've done very well in spite of the obstacles you've had to deal with.
