Pouch Too Big!
I'm almost 4 weeks out and have wondered the same thing as I've had several people tell me they couldn't eat more than a bite or two for several months. I've been able to eat with very few complications. To get the 60 grams of protein it would be hard not to eat as much as I am currently. I know I'm eating around 500 calories or less daily so logically I would have to lose weight. But after a really good first couple of weeks I lost 30 lbs but have seemed to have stalled. Any insights?
Hi Pam,
I too was eating around 400-600 cal/day and I stalled. I asked the NUT why and we went over my food journal. She said I wasn't getting enough calories. She said to get at least 600, but closer to 800-100. I've increased, usually around 600-700, and the pounds started coming off again. Even though we injest smaller quantities of food & calories, we still need enough to kick our metabolism in the butt.
Hope this helps.

That makes me feel a whole lot better as I was wondering if I was eating too much. I know logically it's got to come off. And when I've talked with others, they seem to be eating a lot less than what I've been able to... I feel very fortunate that I have been able to eat but with a very restricted portion control. I've also noticed that when I don't feel well it usually has to do with not eating or at least not eating in a structured way (keeping mealtimes) ....I can tell a HUGE difference when I am getting or not getting my protein.
I'm almost 5 weeks out and I'm the same way. Sometimes I think I eat too much. I know if I eat too much, because after I eat I get real tired and have to lay down, then I pass out for a few hours. I stalled for about a week and was wondering why. Then Sunday I weighed and had lost 3lbs, so I guess I'm back on the losing track. I think if we get all our protein and water in and exercise, we don't have to worry, the weight will continue to fall off. I've lost 39lbs so far and down 2 dress sizes. Hang in there everybody, we're going to get through this!
