CLIF 20g protein bars
Hey all,
As you know I am in MI helping my parents, While I was in SAMS club last night getting some meds for mother I was looking at all the protein bars a a guy said those are all nasty these are the best I have found. So I bought some and they are pretty good peanut butter, and chocolate.......total fat 8g total carbs 30g sugar 20g to some of you this may seem high but I can get them down. what do you all think. I hope that when sis and I get back into town that we are able to go to Connies, Sis doesnt live to far and we should be right around there coming home. If not I will make a order at home.

I would also dump on those. Big time. I am not sure what your long term plan is. There are tons of protein alternatives out there that taste good that are low in sugar and carbs. You need to be seeking those out. Not the ones highest in sugar and carbs. Your weight loss and overall health depend on you following a weight loss plan as established by your doctor. Get with the doctor and nutritionist and come up with what will work for you and stick with it.
Your pouch is still very young and you are pushing the limits already. You could hurt your pouch and cause major problems if you are not careful. Protein bars are very harsh on a pouch and I didnt try one until I was about 6 months out. So try to find some liquid versions to get your protein in and protect your delicate pouch.
Scott,
The Power Crunch bars are tasty and are just 200 calories, 12 grams of fat, 13 grams of protien, and only 10 carbs. Connie has them at her store normally, I believe she is waiting on an order right now, the peanut butter creme are great!!! I believe that the Vitamin Shoppe carries them as well.
Try them, I bet you will like them!!

Power Crunch...these are the best tasting I've found. Most of the protein bars are hard and heavy, these are like a sugar wafer cookie coated in chocolate or white coating, depending on the flavor.
The Vitamin Shoppe carries these and I believe bariatriceating carries them too. If you haven't already, you need to check out www.bariatriceating.com. They have all kinds of low carb, high protein stuff. You can order samples of just about anything and Susan Maria always includes some kind of free goodie in your box.
You need to go get "pinkified"!!! You'll find out what that means when you receive your first order from BE.com.
See, I don't hold a grudge Scott. I don't get mad...I get even so watch your back.

Scott,
Sheila and Susan beat me to the punch. I have to say that the power crunch is great. There are others at the bariatriceating.com site and they will sell you individual samples if you ask. That way you can try them. They used to have a sample pack of all they carry. That was how I tried them along with their protein powder samples.
Are you going to have RNY? Then wait to try things until after surgery. Your taste will change drastically. As for your wife. It is still a little early for protein bars. After you try the samples you can find many of the brands at gnc or vitamin shoppe or online elsewhere. But I do know that at this very moment I have SO many protein options that when it comes time to have some I am faced with a dilemma as to what to have. And you can ask my friends on here, they are GOOD! I mean reallll good. I have to limit myself.
Hope this helps ya Scott (aka stinker!)
