Me, Me, and ME
I'm glad you found the right surgeon and procedure for you. Like everyone else said, this has to be your decision. With your type 1 diabetes, you really needed the advise of an experienced medical professional too. Since most of us have dealt with type 2 diabetes, we really are not qualified to give you any advice as to how the surgery will affect your diabetes.
I will certainly pray that you get a quick approval and have a very uneventful surgery and recovery. Keep us posted on your progress and when you get a surgery date.
Oh yeah...welcome to the board!!!

P E A C E - It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work. It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.
It sounds like you are at peace. I am happy for you...I am biased as I had RNY myself. I know any surgery has it's complications but I chose RNY due to the risk of band slippage, erosion, and twisting. Also, I was going to have to have open no matter what so I chose the RNY. I didn't put my two cents in before because I know I'm biased, lol...so I am happy for you and will keep you in my thoughts.
