When you say you hate protein, does this mean you are not getting in your minimum of 60 grams of protein each day? You are still fresh enough from surgery that your labs are going to be affected by your body's reserves. If you are not getting enough protein, you will be more fatigued than is normal for a post op and eventually your body will begin taking protein from your muscles if you do not get enough from your food and supplements. This can be deadly if it continues long enough because the heart is the largest muscle in the body and it can be permanently damaged with lack of adequate protein. If you are having trouble finding ways to get your protein, please let us know. There are several of us who can give you recipes and suggestions for helping you find a protein supplement that you actually like.  This is important to your long term health. Please keep searching until you find the protein supplement that is right for you.

Take it from someone who knows. OH LORD LORD DO I KNOW!  And there are many witnesses on the board who know I know that they kmow I know, well you get the drift. Protein is important. You may get away with not getting it for a few months, but bam! It will whack you in the head, eat your lunch (if you had any) and then roll right over you.  I know its hard, but you must get 60 grams AT LEAST.  Your hair will start falling out soon, you will be so tired, your concentration level will be deteriorated, on and on I could go.   There are some wonderful tasting products out there.  Please trust me. You need them.  And I know you might not thinkk investing in them is important, but like we have said, you don't buy a bmw that takes diesel and put unleaded gas inn it.  You can get away with it for awhile but then it gets to running poorly, and beefore you know it, you have costly repairs to rebuild the motor, blah blah.  same with your body.  So please, get your protein, and like Susan said, fi you need help, let us know.  We are here to help you.   OK Melinda.  Calm down, take a breath.  Sorry, I just get excited.

You are too newly post op to be eating the protein bars. Part of your pouch irritation may be from you putting foods into it that it is just not ready for. At this stage you should still be eating pureed or, at most, soft foods. If you don't like fish, there are plenty of other soft foods. I've also found that the more carbs I eat, the more gas I have. Having Cream of Wheat every day may actually be causing a lot of your gas problems. Cream of Wheat doesn't have much protein either. You say you are eating it to fill you up, you are wasting pouch space that should be going to protein. If you must have the Cream of Wheat, you need to put some protein powder in it. Have you tried unflavored Unjury or, better yet, unflavored Any Whey? You can get the Any Whey at GNC, I like it better than Unjury. It is truly tasteless and has a slight vanilla aroma. It mixes well in warm (not hot) foods as well as cold foods. I'll put a scoop in my coffee most mornings. What protein supplements have you tried other than the bars and Isopure (which I find totally disgusting BTW)?

Is your unflavored whey powder "Any Whey" brand? Not all unflavored whey proteins are truly flavorless, nor do they all do well in warm liquids. I tried a few before I found the Any Whey brand. I found that adding protein powder to yogurt makes the yogurt very thin. I buy plain, fat free yogurt and make "yogurt cheese" to mix with my protein powder for a high protein yogurt. To make yogurt cheese - Place a strainer in a bowl and line the strainer with a paper coffee filter. Pour the yogurt into the filter and place in the refrigerator overnight. (Cover the top of the bowl/strainer with plastic wrap) Discard the liquid that collects in the bottom of the bowl. What you will be left with is a very thick yogurt. When I mix my protein powder into this, I get a thick and very creamy, high protein yogurt.  I also mixed chicken salad in my Magic Bullet - canned or stewed chicken, low fat mayo or ff plain yogurt, a little mustard and pickle juice. You might like Ricotta cheese with spaghetti sauce. I got this idea from the main board. I didn't care for it but I remember you saying you were craving cheese & tomato stuff. Place 1/4 - 1/2 cup ricotta in microwave safe bowl. Top with a tablespoon or 2 of spaghetti sauce and microwave until warm. I guess you could mix a little mozzarella with the ricotta before topping with the sauce. I buy precooked turkey meatballs at my local Kroger. I would heat them in spaghetti sauce and my serving would be 2 or 3 meatballs and I would fix some pasta for my hubby. I still eat these but now I can add a small salad on the side and I don't even miss the pasta. I also make a homemade chili that was one of my staples when I was on pureed. I still make a pot about once every other week. 1 lb very lean ground beef - I used Laura's 96% lean 1 can FF beef broth 1 16 oz can petite dice tomatoes, with juice 1 tsp minced garlic onion powder, salt, pepper - to taste 2 - 3 Tbsp chili powder - or to taste Place all ingredients in large pot together, stirring very well to break up the meat into the broth. Cook, stirring often until meat is cooked through and broth has reduced. You don't have to worry about draining the meat because it is so lean and by mixing it into the broth, there are no large chunks to deal with. Don't cook it too dry. You want kind of a stew consistency. This reheats well and freezes well too. At this point, you may add beans if desired. In the beginning I just ate this as is, now I sometimes add beans - 3 cans of kidney beans, drained.  I hope this gives you some ideas.
