1st time trying stew beef...
and it's not setting too well. My options were the stew beef in gravy...ugh, or fried popcorn shrimp...double ugh!
Right now I'm wishing I had asked someone in the kitchen to just get me some cottage cheese. I had felt like I was ready to try it since I'm 16 months post-op. I can tell you, it will be a while before I try it again. I chewed it really well and only took 3 pieces that I cut up even smaller. I don't feel well at all!!

Susan,
grainy meats kill me every time. I'm not sure when I'll try them again they hurt me so bad the last time. Maybe you could have ordered the shrimp and took the breading off? Cottage cheese would have been better though.
sorry you're feeling so bad. I hope it gets better.

I'm feeling better so I guess I chewed everything well enough. The shrimp were the little bitty popcorn shrimp. I did get a few of them but there wasn't enough shrimp to even mess with once I pulled the breading off.
I work at a university so this was the lunch offering in our cafeteria. Normally I have no problem finding something to eat. Just today was not my day.

Earlier this week our cafeteria had some beef stew. It looked good. It was good, but I ate 2 pieces of meat, and pulled out all the rest. One of my lunch people asked, "Can't you have that meat?" Cause I am sure it seemed like a real waste. It tasted ok but I just didn't want to use all my chew power on it, and I could already tell by the few bites I had that it probably wouldnt settle very well.... but the rest of it was good!
My favorite dish is something Mike makes. He takes chicken, bakes it, then shreds it or cubes it, adds broccolli and cauliflower, or just brocolli, and alfredo sauce and other cheese. I love it. I got some of that sugar free no carb alfredo from the sf store yesterday and we're gonna try that, because the alfredo we buy is low sugar, but not low fat. I try to be as careful as possible.
But its just like broccoli & chicken casserole and I dont even miss the rice.
