Red Lobster

Today we were told that there is a corporate rule that disallows adults from ordering from the children's menu. And, I don't normally want to order off of kid's menus as they are stuff I cant have... mac and cheese, corn dogs, etc. But they happen to have a very nutritional menu including grilled chicken, broiled fish and steamed veggies. I think we need to let our voices be heard. I have already gotten on Redlobster.com and filled out the forms, letting them know that we will get on the Bariatriceating and Obesityhelp boards and advertise this negative decision that they have put in place. So, let's all get out there and make our voices be heard!!!!

Annrenee Go to redlobster.com and there will be a contact us tab on the very bottom of the page. click on that, and it will bring up a form for you to fill out. Under comments, just put down that you are writing due to the recent awareness that they do not allow adults to order from the kid's menu, and that we are gastric bypass patients not able to eat very much, and we are wasting our money and our food when we are not allowed to order off the kid's menu. Besides, they actually have some good choices on there, and worth ordering from.... unlike many other places where they have corn dogs, mac and cheese.....

Ya'll should go to the "main forum board" and read my same thread called "Red Lobster" like this one. I want you to see how people treat one another there. It reminds me how lucky I am to have friends who are supportive. There are some downright mean people on there. Though I dont expect everyone to agree with me, can't people be nice? Good lord! So go read it and then give me your opinions.

Went to your thread and got mad when I saw some of the negative remarks by people who are trying so hard to be "normal" which we are not. We are all speacial because of our individual weight situations and should remember that. I do have a barriatric card I got from my doc. and I do use it when I need to. I have been treated good in most cases and when not, I have no prroblems taking my money elsewhere. Notice that it is still mine till I spend it. I can do what I want with it. I agree that we made a choice to have WLS but I also have a choice where I will eat. Your motives and your idea was great and I have gone to the site and sent my comments in. Don't let the naysayers bother you. As my dear old pappy used to say,"Son, you can not overcome ignorance or stupidity." You have done a good thing getting this discussion started. Bill R

I got sooooooooooo , it is a good thing I don't visit that part of the forum often. I did post this: Let me know what you think!!! I was a little steamed. Post Date: 5/20/07 8:54 pm Everyone is entitled to their opinion and many opinions have been posted here. However, I was in attendance and no one asked to be treated special, given anything, the fact was prior to choosing the resturant and making our plans for another location it was asked if Red Lobster honored the discount because we were planning a monthly meeting and we have a lot of different stages of WLS patients, some as early as a couple of weeks out, and explained that we thought that their establishment in another location would be a great place to attend. We were told ahead of time, prior to meeting, that yes the children's menu would be available for anyone that would like to order off of it. Now with that said!!!!! The manager at the location, refused to even speak to us, she kept sending the host, instead of herself to adress the issue, problem number one, ignoring the issue, then her excuse was that it was a "Corporate" rule, problem number two, I myself asked when this rule was put into place, because I am the one that inquired about the children's menu ordering, I was told that it has been in place for at least a year, problem number three, I have only had surgery since January and I spoke to Red Lobster just three weeks ago. Now do you see some inconsisitancies. This is a problem, that I believe that needs to be addressed, because it may be the fact that this particular manager may be one of those individuals that thinks that we have taken the "EASY" way out by having surgery and not allowing us to order off the children's menu was a discriminating action. Yes, there are ways to get around ordering, taking the food home, paying the price, and simply letting the food go to waste, (personally I still think is a shame with all the individuals that do not have food in thier stomachs in this country and others) this alone is why I do not like to order more than I can eat, not to mention the fact that seafood is not the best reheated. (personal choice, I know!!!) I understand and respect the decision of those that do not see an issue with what Red Lobster did, however we could have also been very tacky, for $12.99 we could have ordered the 30 piece shrip dinner and probably 4 of us could have eaten off of that. Therefore, if you want to discuss putting business out of business, unless they have a sharing clause, there is always a way around that as well, by the way Red Loster does not charge for sharing, nor do the state on their menu that you can't, because I checked into this as well, when we mentioned this, that is when they decided that they would allow us this one time to order off the children's menu!!! I do not mean to sound harsh, but when it was asked for support, it was not asked in a way to be attacked for asking for something free, or discounted, it was simply asked to not be discriminated against. By the way, my husband does work with a guy that has been asked not to return to an "All You Can Eat Buffet" because they said he ate too much, or they would have to charge him for two people, therefore that does go on as well. Just like the airlines that charge for two seats!!!! Yes, I am normal now and I was normal before my surgery, the only difference is, I am smaller and healther, but I am still NORMAL, I am ME!!!

Aaahh, thus the reason I don't go to the "main forum". Way too much drama and meanness for my taste.

Amen Sheila and Melinda, another thing they haven't thought of...not only are they going to lose my business...but they will also lose my husband's and my best friend's, (who is normally with us if we ever eat at such a place)...now, they may only be losing a "measly" six bucks or so from me...but they are losing twenty bucks from each of the others for a combined loss of nearly fifty dollars...multiply that by the millions of us out there and Red Lobster will have some hurt on thier spreadsheets soon!
