Does anyone every feel depressed and don't know why? Yesterday I hugged my DH and started crying and he asked what was wrong because I am not a crier and I told him I was depressed but didn't know why. My aerobics seemed hard to do and our walk seemed to go on forever and I am soooo tired all the time. I'm getting plenty of protien and fluids and I haven't been really hungry the last couple a months but the last couple a days all I think about is food. I haven't had my surgery yet but I have lost 28 lbs since March the 8th. I just don't want to do any thing and the house work is pilling up. It worries me because I am usually busy doing something all the time. I don't want to talk to my PPO because she is such a worry wart. Thank for any advice anyone can give me. Hugs & Have a good day. Carloyn, It sounds like depression and it could be a change of everything and the up coming surgery...... PLEASE see a PHYC and get on depression meds if you are not already taking them...... I have been on them since I had my second child who just turned 18. I went off them after surgery because I couldnt get it down CAPSULE. about 10 days after surgery i was going banannas. There is nothing wrong with being a on meds. another thing that may help is a journal,,,,, write down what you are feeling..... you will need that after surgery too. Have you had a PHYC eval for surgery some insurance reQuire it?????Please just dont take this slightly take it as a warning to make sure you do everything that means possibly starting anti depressant meds before surgery. a good one is lexapro. i do have alist of ones not to try but if you want them i will give them to you. please take care Annrenee your hormones are different now you lost that much weight already.....

Carolyn i went through a simlar depression prior to my surgery. A lot of it was that i was anxious about my upcoming surgery. Get with your PCP and request a mild antidepressant. This is normal. Congrats on losing the weight!! (((HUGS))) Janie

Thanks everyone. I'm on Zolof and before that Prozac and yes I had my phy exam already and he said the only thing wrong was I had a low tolerance to pain. Other than that he said he thought I was ready for and understood what the surgery was all about. I do worry about the life changes that I will have to make but I have made a lot of changes in my life so this is just another and I know I can do it. I think I am just tired. I am doing a lot more exercing than I have ever done before even DH is tired but he is on the lazy side any way. Thank you all for taking time out to listen and respond. Lee Lee

Lee Lee, I hate that you are feeling like this. You have put your body through quite a change with the new exercising, eating habits and other changes. It is normal to feel this way, but you don't need to suffer w/o meds. Since your body chemistry has now changed, the Zoloft may not be doint the job, you may need different dosage or a different med. I agree, journaling what you feel will help. We tend to be able to write more truthful things we feel that we can say outloud. Just take care of yourself and I will see you Tuesday . Darlene

I agree that you may need some medication help. Also, I was thinking that since you have been working so hard, do you think it could be some type of withdrawal from food and the fact that you are grieving the loss of your long lost friend? You are in essence saying goodbye to food and eating as you know it, for quite some time. I dont know for sure, its just a thought, but hon dont try to do it alone. If you need someeone to talk with, and some medication to get you through, please go see a counselor and your doctor. There is no shame in this. Get better soon! Take care of yourself, and please keep us posted. We worry when we don't hear from our regulars! Especially when there are some rocky roads....

LeeLee, since you have lost an amazing 28 pounds since just a little over two months ago and you are pre-op...is it possible that you are not getting in enough calories? I know you are working very hard but that is a huge amount of weight...I have not lost that much in three months and I am post-op! Take care of yourself!

Caroyln, I know how you feel with depression. My Dr. prescribed welbutrin for me and it's done wonders for my depression. The Wellbutrin even helped me to lose weight for my pre-op diet. It seems to take the edge of that obsession I sometimes have with things. Hang in there things will get better.
