I didn't want your post to go unanswered. I don't know of any surgeons in the Nashville area who are doing the mini bypass. From my research of this procedure, it sounds like a very small and exclusive group of doctors are doing it. I went to the site owned by the doctors who "developed" this procedure. What I saw there was a lot of misstatements of the facts about RNY. It really bothered me that they describe the procedure as "easily reversed" and only taking 30 - 40 minutes to perform. I don't know about you but I did not look for the speed of my surgeon when I chose my procedure. Neither did I go into this surgery with the thought of ever having it reversed. BTW - the RNY does not take 4+ hours to perform laproscopically. I don't think it takes that long to do it open with complications. Another thing that bothered me was the ICU, and hospital stay quoted. It is very rare that any WLS patient is sent to the ICU. Those who are sent usually have some kind of breathing problem (like severe sleep apnea or asthma) pre-op and they are sent to ICU for 12 - 24 hours of observation to make sure they are breathing okay after surgery. This would be normal for any surgery these individuals undergo. Also, most RNY surgeries are now performed laproscopically and the person spends 2 nights in the hospital, not the 4 stated on the CLOS website. If I were you, I would do a lot more research before making a final decision on your procedure. Good luck on your journey, no matter what path you choose to take. Susan

Hi Tammy, Susan is right. My rny is permanent and only took 2 hours. Two hours in recovery and in my room after that. I had severe sleep apnea, Leukemia, breathing problems and on oxygen while I was in my room. I never had to go to ICU. I had to stay 5 days, because of my chemo medication, but as for everything else, I have no regrets having the rny. I would never want something that can be reversed. That would defeat the purpose of even having the surgery I would think. Do yourself a favor and really research before you decide. May God travel with you on this new journey, Kathy
