My surgery date is fast approaching (24 days but who's counting!) and the DH and I are starting to get things together for the house and the hospital. Soooo this brings up my question(s): have any of ya'll used the magic bullet to mix your stuff? Worth the money or use something different? How about the trial package of protein drinks from Susan Marie for $32(?) ? What do I absolutly need that i haven't mentioned, for here or the hospital? Can I use Carmex instead of "Chapstick"? I'm not nervous ...yet... but I want to get things going before it's to late. Thanks and ya'll have a great weekend. If you have the time, check out DH's pics on flicker.com\photos\rjsdad they're awesome. Beth

Beth, in my personal opinion, the Magic Bullet ROCKS! I use mine daily and love it. YOu just have to be careful because if overblended it puts a lot of air. I just let it sit and the air goes out. I got the protein sample packet from SM and it was great! It helped me figure out which ones I liked and which ones I didnt. I suggest you get a couple of those liquid bullets too because it is very hard at first to get in the protein. Dont bother tasting the protein before hand because your taste will change. I bought tons of powder before and ended up giving it all away. Of course that was before I found the good stuff at BE. I found that a cheap tube of vaseline worked great. The smell of carmax made me nauseous. Take clothes that are loose at the waist (sweats, shorts, that wont press on surgical site). Hugz to you!

Ditto on the Magic Bullet! I love mine and use it every day. By all means get the sample packet from Susan Maria. It will give you a variety of options and you should be able to find something in it that you like. You can use Carmex but, like Paula said, the smell may cause problems post-op. You will find that smells that did not bother you before surgery may nauseate you after. I took a tube of Vaseline lip balm with me. I wore loose fitting clothes to the hospital and wore the same outfit home. You are only in it for an hour or so the morning of surgery and then it hangs in your closet for the rest of your stay. I even wore my slippers to the hospital so hubby didn't have to keep up with my shoes. You're there before the crack of dawn so who cares how you are dressed? Leave your bag in the car until you are in your room after surgery. That will be one less thing for your hubby to keep up with while you are in surgery. You're not going to need anything in it until you get to your room anyway. Toothpaste, toothbrush, hair brush, socks in case your feet get cold, body lotion if you have dry skin, a robe for when you leave your room for walks, and I took my favorite fleece blankie.
