Surgery scheduled for Tuesday

I have been having several ear infections over the past year and two back to back for the last two weeks. I am now on my third round of antibiotics and it has not worked so far, today I saw a specialist at Vanderbilt and they did several tests and determined that I need to have surgery on Tuesday to have tubes inserted in my ears. Shelia, So sorry to hear that. my DD (Tina) had that done years ago it really helped her alot. Girl you really have been though alot latly it can only get better now. Will be thinking about ya Tuesday. Sue

Hopefully this will solve the problem. I had tubes as an adult. The worst part was having to wear those wax earplugs to keep water out of your ears while bathing. UGH!

They did not mention that!!! How long did you have to do that? Do you remember how long your recovery was as well? I am hoping to go back to work on Wed, I am at home today, because I am very dizzy, they did some work on my ears yesterday and the fluid and pain has made me very dizzy today, I am afraid to try to drive and have a wreak!!!

I had to use the wax earplugs for the entire time I had the tubes - about a year. Since the tubes are essentially an opening in the ear drum, water can get into the inner ear unless you use the plugs. It just feels wierd to have this glob of wax in your ear when you are washing your hair. It really didn't take long to get over the actual insertion. It was actually done as an office procedure. I just had to have someone drive me home afterwards. Messing with the inner ear always makes me dizzy and queasy. Take care sweetie. Let me know if I can do anything.

I have to be there at 8:30 and they say they will do the surgery about 9:30, so it looks like we will be in surgery at the same time. I will be keeping you in my prayers, please give my home number to someone and have them call me that afternoon, so I can let the board know how you are doing!!! Shelia

Hate to hear you're having such a hard time Shelia. I hope your surgery goes well. I'm assuming it will be done as outpatient?
