I know I haven't been posting alot lately and probably don't deserve the fountain of knowledge everyone seems to posess about food ideas but me, but I have been so busy, with finals (which are now over thank god) and my five kids that of course are involved in baseball and softball, and working full time........but i need some advice. I have been feeling so nauseaus and everything i have eaten has come right back up. I feel like I am starving though. Maybe it is my food choices, but I try to eat very lean and never have sugar or fat. Is there anything you guys find that settles your stomach, or any ideas you guys have as to what I can eat just so iam getting some nutrients till this little spell goes away! Thank ou guys for all you advice because i am about to go !

Sometimes I just don't feel like eating. There are periods where nothing satisfies. It all tastes gross. I only eat because I have to. I think that is normal, from what I hear. But I don't get nauseious with it. That I remember. If you start throwing stuff up, you need to talk with your doctor. You could have a stricture. Not saying that to scare you to death... it might be nothing, and hopefully its nothing. But, he can do a scope to make sure you don't have a stricture. Its easily fixed. But if you don't fix it, you can get dehydrated and malnutritioned. Call him today and see what his office tells you. Good luck, and let us know.

So Mel you don't puke at all! I feel like I do a little too much, at least every other day if not daily. But I am not talking about alot a day or every time I eat, but I do puke quite a few times a week. How much do you think I should be eating at three months out at one sitting? Thanks Nicole

Hi Nicole. Throwing up is not "normal" for this surgery. Although some people do for different reasons but really, it is not the norm. I have never thrown up. You should really discuss this with your Dr because that seems a little excessive and you are 3 months out so you should be more comfortable with eating by now. You can get malnutritioned and dehydrated quickly and throwing up adds to that. So, please be careful and let your Dr know. Is the throwing up episodes assocaited to any certain food that you are eating or can anything do that to you? I believe at 3 months out, you should be up to 4oz of food at one time. You should get a food scale to measure how much you are eating and do not go over your limit. I hope you figure out what is causing these problems and get it resolved. It may just be that you have a sensitive stomach and your Dr and nutritionist can come up with a meal plan for you but you really need to see them to make sure they are aware of how much you are throwing up to rule out any medical issue (like as stricture, ulcer or gallbladder problems). Wow there is no way I am anywhere near 4 oz of food. I can eat 2-4 bites, and anything more is coming back up. I feel like I was able to eat more closer to after my surgery date than I can now. It is associated with all types of food too not just one specifically. Like i felt like I was starving this morning so I made one scrambled egg with cheese in it, which I use to beable to eat, I ate 4 bites and I am trying to keep it down but I feel like it is not going to stay there. I just would think that at three months out I should be getting better not worse and it definitly is worse. Thanks Nicole

Call your doctor! Since you used to be able to eat the egg with cheese and now can only eat a couple of bites, you need to call your doctor. Now!! How are you doing with fluids? If you are also having trouble getting iin fluids...Call Your Doctor!! Hope you get some answers soon. Susan

Let's see... 2-4 bites, throwing up. Yes call doc. Stricture. I will be suprised if it isn't. I did all of that up to 8 1/2 wks out. Ever since he opened up that little hole from the stomach to the intestines, down like butter. Smooth... I really do not push my eating. If I feel full, I stop. I know about how much I can eat... then stop way before. Eat slowly enough that I get hiccups and know I am full. But Sunday I did overeat too much semi by accident... I just ate my dessert too close to my meal and it hurt like mad! I tried to throw up. Could not do it. Its been ages since I threw up. If you are throwing up, usually means: ate too fast ate too much ate something your body doesn't like stricture Hope this helps
