I know you guys think I have fell off the planet... just been busy! Sorry I haven't been around lately. I have a question for you, how in the world do you get all of your required stuff in for the day? I am really struggling with getting in all of my protien, and my liquids for the day!!!!! I have had a few "episodes" of having to throw up what I have ate... (chicken) for some reason - I have concluded that I cannot handle chicken right now! I AM losing - so far 36pds!!! But it seems like I am slipping back to the "softer" foods just because its easier on me! I crunch on soft crushed ice all day to help me with my liquids, and I just don't feel as though I am getting what I should! Cannot tolerate Isopure drinks right now either ( i know im weird)...... I was just wondering if any of you went through a spell where you struggled like me?!?!? It is 4 weeks today, so I know that hopefully its just a thing that will pass! Thank you ahead of time for any and all advice, I pray that you have a blessed day!

Hi Sonya. Congrats on your weight loss so far. It has only been 4 weeks - so yes, it is normal to struggle somewhat. If nothing else, you need to get in your fluids. Very Very Important. You need to have a bottle with you at all times. If you are burnt out on plain water, get different flavors of water (like Fruit2o) or get crystal light or sugar free koolaid or even unsweet tea. But drink drink drink. I know it is easier said than done but if you get dehydrated, you will end up back in the hospital. Not to scare you but you really do not want to do that. As far as protein intake - I can not give you good advice because I was horrable at that. However, you may be getting in more than you realize. Try using a journal or using fitday.com to track all of your intake and you may be getting in more protein than you realize. Chicken can be hard on you at first. Do not try to force yourself to more solid foods if you are not ready. I didn't have a big problem with it but I used the chicken in a can that I could blend with lite mayo and cheese (like chicken salad). Or try boiling the chicken. Also, try tuna fish or those salmon pouches. Plus, refreid beans have a lot of protein and not very much fat. Get some cans of those to heat up and put cheese on them. You can even try something liek the boca burger and scrambled eggs. Have you found any protein drinks you like (like AO)? I am sure you will get the hang of it. It does take time. But whatever you do - drink! Misty

Sonya, I had a lot of trouble in beginning tolerating protin as well. The smell alone made me feel sick. I finally found Nectar Fuzzy navel that worked. You just have to try diff things and see what you like. It is really hard getting everything in so earky out. Just do yur best and make sure you have a drink either protein or water in hand all the time and just sip through out the day. Best wishes!!

I hit my protein drinks. If you send me your email, I will send you a list of the protein drinks and also recipes. Paula, Kym and Susan helped me a LOT during a time I could not get all of mine in... so we come together with all of this info for others when/if they should need it.

Not being able to tolerate Isopure does not make you weird, it makes you normal! Isopure is N-A-S-T-Y! At 4 weeks out your tummy is still healing. A lot of people can't handle chicken or other more solid foods at this point in recovery. The most important thing to get in is your fluid. If you need to eat softer protein in order to get it in (and keep it in) then do that. It's better to eat soft protein than to throw up what you eat. I was on pureed for 8 weeks after my surgery. I can't imagine trying to eat chicken at 4 weeks. It sounds like you are doing well otherwise. Congrats on the weight loss!!

Sonya, You have done so wonderful and the only thing I can add that the others did not mention, would be to maybe get the 42 gram New Whey bullets, they are so small and you can do half at a time, that will help get your protein in!!! At 14 weeks today, chicken still gives me some trouble at times!! Shelia

Sonya Sent you the pack Carolyn also to you too Protein bullets appear to be the fastest easiest way to get the protein in. they are 2.49 ea and you canget them at the vitamin shoppe. I like them in the magic bullet, with some ice, and a packeet of splenda
