WOW Moment

Well Saturday was 3 months from the day of my surgery. I decided I was tired of my shirts falling off my shoulders and my bra strap falling down my arm. So I went shopping for shirts and bras. I really didn't know what size to even try on. I got one size down from what I normally wore, but I think I maybe could have went down two. But I was too scared, doesn't that sound silly. Now my bra size was a real socker. I went from a 50 DD too a.............46 C! I could not believe it!!!! I knew they were going, but I just thought they were going down to the ground. Also about 2 or 3 weeks ago I went to Wal-mart and started to try on some capri's. Well as I was pulling them on they were tight before I even got them to my waist. So I took them off and didn't try anything else on. I bought 3 pairs of capri's at Wal-mart yesterday without trying them on, because I was too wore out. So today I was trying the clothes on for my husband and the capri's fit and they were a little big in the waist. Ok next WOW moment. I signed my daughter up for T-ball in March. They had a sign-up sheet where the parents could get shirts to match their kids shirts. Well the largest shirt they had was 2X. I went ahead and ordered it in hopes that by the time the first game came I would be able to fit in it. Well we got our shirts yesterday at practice and I looked at it. And was a little disappointed, because it would proably be a couple of games before I could wear it. I tried it on tonight just to see how long it might be fore I could wear it. Keep in mind that before the surgery I was wearing 4X & 5X. IT FIT! I still feel like the big person that I am. So when I can get into these smaller clothes it just amazes me. I had to share this with my friends on here. I would enjoy hearing some of your WOW moments too. Charlotte

Charlotte, A HUGE CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to be on the other side and shock myself with wearing the smaller sizes. I'm almost there; surgery on Tuesday. I think that the mental picture of ourselves is one of the most difficult things to overcome. I remember when I was thinner and I thought I was soooo huge! I guess it's all relative, right! ~~Elena

Hi, Charlotte! Sounds like you had several WOW moments this past week. Congratulations! It feels wonderful to buy smaller clothes... and honestly, the shock never wears off... or at least it hasn't for me. I was taking clothes out of the dryer on Saturday and I layed them across the washer top thinking, gee those clothes look too little for me to wear! Don't they look like they belong to a kid? They are size 10s and it just amazed me... I read Susan Maria's post the other day about doing laundry and being amazed at how small the jeans were. I think it put it right there in the front of my mind so I paid more attention when I did the laundry... She was right... You will have many more WOW moments along the way... treasure them... perhaps even write them down in a journal so that one day you can look back and say, WOW! Isn't it amazing how the smallest of compliments or most insignificant of daily actions can make me feel so good?

Congrats Charlotte. One of many WOW moments to come for you! Don't get to attached to the new clothes because they will be too big in a couple of weeks and you will have to go get some more! I always hated shopping -especially clothes shopping. I still do not like it now after losing weight but it is a must if you want to have clothes that fit because the clothes get to big to fast - especially around your time (3 - 6 month post-op). Well, I just wanted to say Congrats on the weight loss so far and keep up the great work! Misty

You are doing so wonderful and I know how you feel when you can fit into something that you did not think that you could, it is a rush that I still do not get tired of. I will suggest something though, you may need to order another shirt for your daughter's T-ball games, you will probably need it before the end of the season!!! Doing Great!! Shelia

Charlotte, Isn't it a wonderful feeling? I am so happy for you. It will take your mind and your eyes a little while to catch up with the weight loss. I am 3 years out and sometimes I still see myself at 420. I can't even believe that I throw that number out to everyone now as my badge of courage. You've come a long way baby and you are only 3 months out. Darlene
