NEW update on Shelia
Shelia called me on her way to work and asked me to post this update for her.
They did not admit her and do not believe her heart has been affected by what is going on. (Praise God!!) They still are not sure exactly what is going on with her. They think it may be a reaction to the liquid antibiotic she has been on for her ear infection.
They have changed her antibiotic and put her on 100mg of thiamin per day to get her thiamin level up.
Her protein level is right in the middle of the normal range. Yay Shelia!!!
All of her other vitamin and mineral counts are normal.
She goes back to see the doctor in 2 weeks just to make sure things are either better or are getting better. They told her that the old antibiotic should be out of her system and the new one in by that time and they hope that resolves the issue.
The doctor did tell her that if he were to have just seen her test results and not talked to her, he never would have thought she was ever overweight. He said she is definitely healthier now than she was. In fact, he told her she is healthier than he is.
He was also very impressed with her knowledge of her surgery and her post-surgery needs. He told her he doesn't meet many people who are as knowledgeable of the surgery as she, especially at just 13 weeks out.
Our little Shelia...very unique and very intelligent!!

Oh, man, that is wonderful news! I can't even imagine how awful it would have been if the surgery that saved her life in one way could have compromised it in another...and I'm sure words can't express how relieved Sheila must be!
Please give her our words of love and concern and let her know how relieved we all are that she is going to be A-OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
