I am totally freaking out and I haven't even been to the seminar yet! I've been obsessing about the food, or more like what foods I would not be eating, then eating literally everything that isnt nailed down. I am convinced that I will be the only fat person in the world that the surgeon will NOT do surgery. I sure he will take one look at me and say sorry, your to big! and I am stressing that they will do surgery! Breathe, just Breathe! not hyperventalate, just Breathe. I am being irrational and I just need to calm down, right? right! Just two days until the seminar. I can do it! I hope Thanks for letting me rave on, Kim

Hi kim! Just calm down take a deep breath in and release. EVrything will be fine. I'm not sure how much you weigh but I doubt anyone is to big to have surgery. I myself had a start weight of 417 surgery date was 402. So I was very heavy and was still approved. Just wanted to say welcome and offer support. Best wishes!!

I have no idea where Milan is so I don't know what hospitals you are looking at. My guess is that when you go to the seminar, you will see people of all sizes and realize that the fear of being too big for surgery is nothing to worry about. I have heard of people 500 and 600 lbs, and more, having surgery. What seminar are you going to?

Thanks for the encouraging words, Ladies. I will be at the May 5 seminar in Nashville, by Dr. Houston at the Centenial Center. I have read both of your blogs and it sure helps to hear what other people have gone through, very inspiring! Kim

Kim, Just go and take a look at the before/after photos on OH and you will see that people 500lbs+ have had the surgery and done well. I was 420 when I had started inquiring about surgery. Dr Houston was my surgeon and I think he is wonderful. The major thing that a larger weight makes a difference with is if you have open or laproscopic. One of our support group members was almost 600lbs and has lost 200+ lbs now and still doing good. I lead a support group in jackson on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 7pm. Our next meeting is on May 22nd. We have all stages of surgery from pre op to 3 years out. You can send me a pm and i will send you my number or you can send me yours if you are interested in the support group. Darlene

First, welcome... you will find some great people here on the TN forum... Second, yes you are freaking out... and irrational... but (LOL) we have all been there too! Trust me. You are saying the exact same things that we have said or felt.. .maybe not said out loud but feared in our hearts. You're not too big. The surgery will help you. You won't be the "only one" to not lose weight. It works. It worked for us. It will work for you... Dr. H is my surgeon. You are in good hands... if you still believe after seminar that all these things are true, voice them to Dr. H! He will tell you the truth of the matter quickly if you ask... but I don't think you will believe these things about yourself to be true anymore... the seminars always give you encouragement, motivation and hope as well as educate you on what to expect from surgery. Good luck, and don't forget to breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out....

Kim, first of all, you are not being irrational...just human! This is a life-changing decision! Second, Dr.Houston is my surgeon, and let me tell you what he said to me after I admitted I was scared to death...he said, "Well, I would be worried if you weren't scared. This is a major decision and if someone isn't scared, at least a little, then they haven't really thought it through. So be glad you are scared, it means you are giving this decision the concern it warrants." So don't be so hard on yourself...it will all work out and I doubt that you are too big...have you ever watched the Discovery Channel? Good luck!
