Good morning everyone. I am off to the dentist in a little while to get my new lower partials so I will be able to chew my food better. I had 2 teeth pulled a few months ago and it left me with 8 teeth on the bottom so when I found out about this surgery I thought I better get the partials. I had them once before and they gave me so many problems I quit wearing them but I can't do that now. I go to my first meeting this evening with Darlene. Carolyn
Good for you for thinking ahead. I waited until after surgery to start my long needed dental work. After spending almost a year in braces, I am now expecting my permanent bridges & partial in any day. I am looking forward to being able to eat some foods that I have had to avoid simply because I knew I could not chew them well enough.
Let us know how your meeting goes.

I'm sorry to hear that. I know it took me a while to get used to my braces and then my retainer. Aside from the tenderness of the pressure on my teeth anytime I had the braces tightened, the brackets irritated the inside of my lips for several weeks. I used dental wax on the bracket/wire places that were an irritation until I got past it.
Have you asked if the temorary use of some dental wax might help you get used to the partial?
You can find it near toothpaste, dental floss and other oral health products. It comes in a little plastic case about 1X2X1/2 inches in size. You should just need a very tiny piece to fill in the place that is irritating. Call your dentist first. It may be that something needs to be adjusted for them to fit right.
