Sorry your clean out is not working. I did not have to do this so not familiar but I would suggest you contact your surgeons office and let them know what's going on. Maybe they could make a suggestion??

Hi Annrenee. You mentioned in your other post that you used an enema yesterday (was it yesterday?) and that you have been on liquids for two days, right? Did you go after the enemas. It could be that you are cleaned out. I would not worry about the fleet not working. if there is anything in there, it will work in its due time (and it will be before tommorrow!). Do not stress about that. I am sure you will be fine and they will do the surgery either way. Just stay on liquids and if the enemas worked for you, try that agian. But it could be that you are fairly cleaned out. Good luck with your surgery tommorrow. Let us know as soon as you can how you are doing. Misty

Well, it sounds like you are off to the races now. My surgeon did tell me that the area of the small intestine that is involved in the surgery is far enough away from the large intestine that a bowel prep is not necessary for RNY patients. I know that the 1 day of clear liquids the day before surgery was enough to keep me on the pot the afternoon & evening before surgery.

I was concerned with the same thing myself. I only had 2 days of liquids pre-op and no bowel cleansing was required. My surgeon is just THAT good haha! At any rate... during those two days, I didn't have a bowel movement and I absolutely KNEW that I needed to get some stuff moving (I pigged out the day before start of liquids) and no BM from that pig out fest. So anyways... I didn't worry about it... someone told me ( I think Susan) the surgeon really doesn't work on the part of the bowels that is used to process/move waste product...which by the time you have surgery will probably be in your large intestine (colon) anyways. By the time I had surgery, I still didn't have a BM. The next morning, after surgery, everything came out just fine. As of right now, you still have more than 12 hours before surgery too. good luck!
