Peanuts
I was wondering if this is something that we can have after surgery as long as they are chewed up very well. I know that in 1 oz there is 166 calories, 6.7 grams of protein, 6.1 carbs, and 14.1 grams of fat. I know that this is not something that we would want to at all the time, but as a meal at times? I do not want to mess up my success, please help!!

Hey Juanita! I tried the apple turnover this weekend. I got it from Walmart too. It was really good. You were right. I went to krogers yesterday to stock up on them and they didn't carry them! I guess I will have to make a special trip to the super walmart. I just hope it isn't the walmart you cleaned out! hehehe.

You might want to try the Carb Master yogurt from Kroger. It is higher in protein than other yogurt and will be a great way to get more protein immediately post-op.
The other low fat, sugar free yogurts are good for new post-ops too. I just know how hard it is to get in your protein in those early weeks.
Other foods that are good for new post-ops:
cottage cheese
refried beans & cheese (I added a little enchilada sauce like Taco Bell's Pintos & Cheese)
Cream of Wheat
Cream of Rice
Grits & cheese
SF popsicles
SF pudding
SF Jello
pimiento cheese spread
pureed chicken/tuna/egg salads
scrambled egg
IDS New Whey protein bullets - 25g and 42g - I get mine at The Vitamin Shoppe but you can get them online at bariatriceating.com or thevitaminshoppe.com
I also liked:
pureed Chunky soups - they tasted like adult food
homemade chili, pureed - I used to like & recommend Wendy's chili but they have changed their recipe and I don't like it anymore.
The Vitamin Shoppe brand high protein pudding mix - taste & texture like Jello brand instant pudding but has 25 grams of protein per serving.
and, of course, protein shakes. Those recipes are a whole other post.
