I just talked to Kathy Newton

She is home. They kept her overnight because her oxygen levels dropped from the pain meds they had her on immediately after surgery. She said she is in a lot of pain but doing better now that she is home. It sounds like the doctors she had were totally clueless about how to care for a WLS patient. The meal trays they brought to her had very little that she could eat. They brought her a pimiento cheese on white bread sandwich for her first post-op meal. She said she couldn't eat the breakfast they brought her partly because she didn't have her dentures. A couple of the nurses were WLS patients and they brought her some cottage cheese and SF pudding. She did say that she will not have this group of plastic surgeons do her thigh surgery. She will wait for a new rotation of doctors to come in. BTW - the surgeons at the VA come from Vanderbilt and are residents doing their surgical rotation.

I am so glad that she is doing well, it sounds like she has had a pretty rough time though. I will continue to keep you in my prayers Kathy!! Shelia
