I called my doctors office today about my weight. I only had 100&23 pounds to loose and I have lost 14 already on this diet that I'm on and they told me that the insurance companies that I have won't pay if I get under 100lbs over weight. I still have abouy 5 months to go. How much weight did you all lose from the liquid diets and clean outs? I guess you have never heard of any one worried about losing too much weight. Carolyn Craig

Most insurance companies go by your weight before you started the required 6 month diet. You should be okay. My insurance didn't require the 6 month diet at the time, I think they do now. Anyway, I had years of documented diet attempts and my PCP had put me on Meridia in June before my surgery in January. By the time my insurance company got my paperwork I had been on the Meridia almost 6 months and had lost a grand total of 13 pounds. Most insurance companies require a bmi of at least 40 with no co-morbidities, or a bmi of 35 with 2 or more co-morbidities from their list. I had a bmi of 52 with 6 of the co-morbidities on the list.

That is funny Carloyn. I would just slow down on the dieting & the last month loose what you need to loose to get approved. I had to loose 10% but not in a certain length of time. I lost 30 in 3 month. I think most is back. lol Good luck, Ellen

I had the same concerns... they go according to the weight you were, which should be documented, prior to 6 mo weight loss attempt...
