I'm gainning weight
I know I haven't posted much but I need some help here. I am scheldued for for my surgery on May 10th. My doctor told me to quit smoking before the surgery. Well I have been smoke free for 3 weeks now but I also gainned more weight. Not too sure how much. I am afraid to get on the scales. I have been replacing the smokes with sweet food. I have almost gotten over that hoop but I still would like to lose some weight before the surgery. Any suggestions? I have been reading all of your profiles and you have all been a big inspiration to me.
Also I want to thank you Melinda R. for emailing me the packet. It has alot of very good information in it. I am going to order the Baraitic Samples of protien from the bariatric eating web site. Maybe this will give me some kind of idea on what I will need.
Brenda,
Just try to find a healthy sub for those sweets, if you have RNY and decide to eat sweets, the dumping will probably keep you away from it for a while. I would try a semi-liquid diet, maybe 2 meal replacement protein shakes and 1 sensible meals a day. Try to stay away from white starches (rice, bread, pasta and sugar). Of course the easiest way to tell if you are suppose to eat it or not is to take a bite and if it tastes good SPIT IT OUT. LOL
Good luck with your journey and I give you kudos for not smoking, that is a hard habit to break

Hi Brenda. Congrats on getting a surgery date. I wanted to say YEAH on quitting smoking. Please don't start that back after surgery. That is sooo wonderful.
. As far as a diet pre surgery to lose weight, not sure I would be much help there. I think you have already succeded the first step by saying you want to lose some weight before surgey. I know I was eating any and everything when I got my surgery date. I went through the "final meal" syndrome. So at least you are in a good mind set and you will be able to accompli**** I had to do a preop liquid diet for 8 days and I lost 10-15 pounds with that. But if you are not required to do that with your surgeon, then I almost don't recommend it. It was torture! HAHA. I just wanted to say congrats on quitting smoking and keep us updated on your surgery progress.
