So whats for dinner?
So what are we cooking for Dinner tonight I always have dinner done and ready before I leave for work in the evening. This morning she requested a Flank Steak Roll, they are on their way home from Universal Studio's the kids are on spring break. So I slipped out to the Butcher and got a really big London Broil and had him slice it so that it can be unrolled like a pastry that you would make a jelly roll out of. I brought it home and put it in the bottom of the refrigerator to marinate in some Mojo and made the stuffing which will be rolled in the between layers. The stuffing consists of Smoked Oysters, Smoked Salmon, Lump Crab Meat, all fresh plus Celery, Bell Pepper both red and green, Red Onion, Mushrooms all chopped fine and mixed together with just enough Fat Free Ranch Dressing and a couple drops of Tabasco to make it stick together. This is spread across the slab of meat and it is then rolled back up, wrapped in a Banana Leaf, then Cheese Cloth, and after that foil to hold all the juice in and it is now in the rottisiree slowing cooking at 350 degrees for 75 minutes while I make the Mexican corn bread and grill some fresh Asparagus and cut all the fixins for a nice green salad.
I can not remember the last time she actually cooked a meal and even when I am gone for the weekend or whatever if they are not with me they eat out some where I guess they are gonna be in trouble after I have this surgery and stop cooking like this so if any one can point me to the good WLS recipes it would be much appreciated so I can start learning how to cook for me all over again.
Man...sounds like somebody doesn't appreciate who they've got...or maybe she just can't cook, lol...anyway, an excellent source of awesome bariatric recipes is Susan Maria Leach's book "Before and After: Eating well after weight loss surgery". It is very hard to get right now because she is coming out with a new paperback version in June or July...wait for that one if you want to get it because the recipes are available online. Go to www.bariatriceating.com and click on recipes. This is also where you can buy tons of good protein and pouch friendly products. Also, there is a link from there to her messageboard and on the messageboard is a "recipes" board where you can find tons of yummy ideas. I have even posted a few on there myself.
I am definitely going to try this recipe for steak rolls...it sounds so delicious!

wow...that sounds pretty elaborate!! Never met a man who could cook like that LOL
I think you won't have anything to worry about with cooking... I have found that most recipes can be altered to healthier versions using lowfat and fat free ingredients. I love www.kraftfoods.com. I can easily alter these recipes and they even have a healthy living section as well as messageboards
www.bariatriceating.com has some good ones...but some of them require ingredients I can never find or are too expensive for me to purchase..especially if I'll only use 'em a few times. Also, people are constantly posting recipes on the messageboard on that site.
OH has some forums if you go up to the top of the screen and click forums, click more forums. A list of all available forums will show up. One is called cooking and baking and the other is called recipes.
Well... enjoy your dinner! I had a Boca Burger w/a slice of cheese, 1 oz. of some block cheddar cheese, and 5 turkey pepperoni slices. Very easy lol

Sounds yummy, Daniel, I'll be right over, mind you after about three bites I will be full. Food is wasted on me when I am alone. Go to the forums click on the left side down past the states. There's a cooking and baking forum that you can check out, copy and print out the recipes. Once I get a printer up and running, I'll be doing that. I am so tired of everything being cooked with great big chunks of onions and tomatos. But my daughter-n-love and her mother cook like that. They're from Mexico. My pouch can't handle it, all the beef, pork, and spices. Prior to surgery if I ate those items I would be so sick to my bowels. Now I eat them and I get the opposite. I sure can't wait to be able to live in my own place. Email me with the exact recipe for your london broil dinner. My son loves making things like that, as he knows I can't have the spicy foods and everything cooked with chunks of onions and tomatoes.
