Cooking??
Great post Juanita! I would love some receipes or a cooking class too. I do not cook much (or I used to not pre surgery). I try to cook a lot now but it is never that good.
. I usually make something for my husband and then have to make something different and small for myself because we don't eat the same things so I would love some good healthy meals that we can eat together. Of course my husbands idea of a vegetable is corn and corn only. If I make steamed vegetables, I have to load them with cheese and he will eat one or two fork fulls and that is it for him. He said at least I ate 2 bites of veggies and that is good enough! MEN!
One good receipe (and don't flame me because it is unhealthy) that we LOVE, LOVE LOVE is baked chicken coated in potato chips. I got the receipe from Paula Deens show. Basically you get the boneless, skinless chicken tenders (or the chicken breast but cut them up) and dip them in an egg/milk mixture and then roll them in crushed potato chips. We use Bar-B-Que chips but we have also used Plain lays and Paula used Sour Cream and Onion when she did it. After coating them put thme in a baking dish (preferable a skillet thingy with ridges at the bottom for baking - I do not know the name of it and I do not have one but if you do, use that so the juices fall into the ridges). Pour some melted butter over them and put on a lot of pepper (I use Pepper but Paula used Paprika - but use some kind of spice because it does makes them crunchier I think) and bake them until done. It is SOOOO good. But not that healthy but I will "cheat" with these usually two times a month. At least it is a lot of protein! ummm - now I have to go home and cook them tonight.

hey Juanita, go to the forum section, go down towards the left side and click on Cooking and Baking forum. It's another message board, but they have great tips on how to cook for you and your family. The only way you will ever get me to eat cooked carrotts is if cooked with sf sryup. yummy. If you find one you love please post it. Kathy
OH has a cooking and baking message board as well as a recipes messageboard but people rarely post there...at least that is what I've noticed.
www.bariatriceating.com has some pretty decent recipes, but they sometimes call for ingredients that are sold through the website. Some ingredients are a little "exotic" and know nothing about them too lol
Also, I LOVE www.kraftfoods.com. Alot of their dishes call for rice or pasta..but you can typically leave them out if you want. They're easy and you can usually subsitute the higher fat/calorie ingredients for lower versions. They also have a healthy living section too. Check it out!
Juanita I found some recipes on bariatriceating.com . I do not cook. I hate cooking. I have never been good at it. Ask Mike! lol
But I now cook things for my lunches and supper, entrees, then freeze them for later. I made one batch of honey mustard ginger salmon. It was good.
I also did pecan encrusted chicken tenders.
I have the recipe for chicken cordon bleu
I tried garlicky green beans
you should look on there. they are easy... heck if I can do it you can do it too. And I like doing it.
