I am 66 years old and I feel so old next to every one else that I hear about having the surgery. I will be having the RNY hopefully some time in Augast. It is taking so long because Dr. Weaver is having a baby and there are 19 people in front of me. Is there any one else out there in thier 60's? Carolyn in Lexington

Your welcome here, I was banded 3 days before my 59th birthday, so I am well on my way to being 60. My goal was to be 60, sexy, thin. Well on my way.

YES!! I am.... but I choose the lap= band I have been thru too many operations and wanted a gentle weight loss operation I had absolutley no pain , no gas, and no problems at all . My operation was quick and easy no catheraters . no IVs inthe neck and home the very next morning I also do not throw up or have any malasorbortion issues I do not have any diaherrea either ... just eat less ... much less as we get more restriction But .. I do lose much slower and it can be frustrating at times, plus the fact we have to keep going back to get fills till we reach proper restriction and even then we must keep getting check ups to check our bands but I guess RNYs have to have checkups forever too.... . IF you must get the weight off quickly for health reasons,, then RNY might be the way to go .. .... at least I am losing and no matter how hard I tried could not lose before! at my age with my health I choose the lap- band .I know there are many who were older and choose RNY .My own daughter had an RNY 6 years ago and says it was all worh it .. so there ya go! there is an over 50 forum here where you can discuss all the issues with older folks who have had RNY the very best of luck to you!!!
