The hospital will not let you be in pain! But...go ahead and bring your other meds to the hospital to take but be sure and let them know. This is what a friend of mine had to do because he is bi-polar and could not go without his meds. He did fine. What is concerning me is the attitude your doctor had with you...he doesn't sound like he is listening to your concerns. You really need to make sure he is the one you want since you will be with him for a long time. Talk to him frankly about your concerns...and Good Luck!!!

I tell you what...the best thing to do...since there is so much to tell, is to go to my profile and read. I did not sugarcoat anything there, LOL...it's all there, the good and the bad. Let me know if you have questions...don't worry, it's not a book, I promise!

Annrenee, I was given all my meds while I was in the hospital. The only one they couldn't give but used my bottle instead was my chemo pill. Dr. Colquitt take great care of you. He does have a great bedside manor, so does his partner Dr. Ray. I was put on a pain pump with Hydromorphone. I was sent home after five days in the hospital with the same pain meds. I am on it now because of the cancer in my bone marrow and blood. I take them only when it's unbearable. But as for psych meds, you will receive them while you are in the hospital. He won't make you go thur the with drawals of those medications as that would entail you to be very sick to your stomach and he's not going to let your pouch get damaged from being sick. So don't worry about that. Just do what you have to do to get thru your surgery with as little stress as possible. May God travel with you. You really do have a great Dr. Put your trust in God's hands to guide your surgeon's hands and trust Dr. Colquitt to take good care of you. You'll do fine. He also believes in God. Kathy
