Little help please!
Good morning. I wake up checking in with you folks every morning and several times a day, but I never seem to be bold enough to post. I am going today for my first visit with Pam as part of my three month pre-op program required by my insurance. I still don't have a letter of support from my PCP and he has asked if I have any good examples of what they are looking for from him. If you have anything or can connect me with any good source I would appreciate it. I live in Kentucky, but plan to have Dr. Houston as my surgeon. My local doc usually sends his patients to Evansville, Indiana, but I was unimpressed with their program and have opted to use Centennial. Any help and encouragement is appreciated...Kathy
I can tell that you all are a very caring and supportive group. I know this is going to be an exciting journey for me and one I am so eager to undertake. Hope my insurance company is as eager as I am! I have enjoyed reading what you all have to share and I look forward to being a supportive member of the group! Thanks for the warm welcome.
Hi Kathy! Welcome to the TN Board. I wanted to wish you a quick process for getting approval. keep us updated on how it is going. And like Melinda said, the hospital has a copy of the letter for you to give to your PCP. I used Vanderbilt and we got a folder of stuff and it included a "sample" letter for our PCP. Of course, I do not think my PCP used it (or of I even gave it to him) but that should help your PCP.

Hi Kathy, My pcp wrote that it was "Medically necessary" that I have this surgery. He listed all my co-morbilities, and that my weight was out of control. It's more of a referral letter to your surgeon, which will go to your insurance company with a copy of all your medical records.
May God travel with you on this new Journey. Kathy
