I need your help! 2 days to go!!!
WOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!! Girl........you are on countdown now!!!!!!
I am so excited for you and I can't wait to be next!! I can't offer any help with you on liquids, but I know you are going to make through these two days so you will be ready on Monday!
Just wanted you to know I am praying for you, Dr. Houston, and your surgery team and I will continue to! I'll do my best to call and check on you Monday afternoon.
The next time I talk to you, you will be a loser!
Hugs, blessings, and prayers,
Rhonda

Sugar free popsicles - you can have these immediately post-op too (at least I could, check with your surgeon)
SF juice - post-op dilute this 1/2 & 1/2 with water
LOTS OF WATER!!!!!!!!!!!!
You might want to have some Tucks or other kind of soothing, moist wipe. I know that, even if my surgeon had ordered it, I didn't need any kind of bowel prep. I only had to do 1 day of clear liquids but by that afternoon I was living on the potty.
I was amazed at the lack of hunger I had on the clear liquids. I don't know if it was because I was so excited to be having the surgery or because I took in so much liquid.
Some surgeons do this to shrink the liver prior to surgery. As MO people, we tend to also have "fatty livers". This makes it harder for the surgeon to move the liver out of his field of view during a laproscopic procedure and increases the chance of having to perform the surgery "open" as opposed to lap.
I think that sometimes surgeons also use it as a test to see how compliant you will be post-op. Ten days of liquids is doable. You will not starve. It is actually easier to appease hunger with liquids while you are pre-op. You may experience "head hunger" since you are not chewing your meals though.
Post-op I did not experience hunger until about 8 or 9 months after surgery. Even now at 14 months post-op, my hunger is nothing like it was before surgery.
Thanks guys for all of your help!!!
Believe it or not.. I have just about survived this day!! ( i know im being too dramatic!)
But seriously though, I have stayed busy... I have washed every piece of laundry in this house.. bagged up clothes(great suggestion).... and pretty much have got this day licked!!! whooooooo hooooooooo
You guys are the best!
Thanks so much
I drank the broth from hot and sour soup and wonton soup. I drank lemonade and got my last fix of carbonation. The great thing is that it doesn't have to be sugar free, just clear. I felt like the two days were my last goodbye so to speak to carbonation and sugar. I had my last hurrah with Sprite, full sugar lemonade and then for the last day I went to all sugar free to seal the deal. The best part, Sonya, and this is perfectly true, is that when you wake up from surgery....you will have NO hunger!!!! Hugs!
