Hello everyone I'm having surgery this month on the 23rd at Vanderbilt with Dr. Richards! I'm so happy. Meanwhile I'd love to find other people who is having surgery this month at Vandy. It would be fun to talk to someone who is having this done around the same time as I.

I've already had surgery but I wanted to welcome you to the board. You will find a wonderful, warm, caring group of ladies (and a few gentlemen) here. Congratulations on your surgery date! You are about to embark on a wonderful journey and, getting ready to be a beautiful "thin" bride will be just the tip of the iceberg. Wonderful things are in store for you! Susan

I don't have a date yet and I'm sure it won't be this month. hopefully soon, I just finished my 3 mth prepatory class that my ins. required. Can I ask what ins you have? How long did it take to get an appt with dr richards after ins approval, then how long to get a surfery date? What were the other tests required their after ins. came through? So far I've had an ekg, a scope run down my throat, and some blood work. I know there is more but I'm not sure what. Thanks Raquel

Hi! I already had surgery at Vanderbilt last June. My surgeon was Dr. Torquati (LOVE him). I wanted to say Congrats on getting a date and these next few weeks will go by FAST! Let us know if you have any questions before your surgery and I wish you a speedy and healthy recovery. Misty

Hi, It will go by fast. I started this process right after new years and before i knew it as impatient as I was at first I am now a little less than 3 weeks away from having surgery and its just next week that I go to my post op appointment. Its like once you find out when your date is time just flashes by and you start to feel it and you will start to really feel you heading into surgery. I myself have already started ordering protein drinks and I have started my vitamin already and next week I will go to the store and pick up some calcium citrate. Its darn nearly impossible to find the liquid form but roux en y patients can take the chewable form... Citracal makes these chewy bites in three different flavors and you can get it at walgreens, walmart all over.

The Vitamin Shoppe also carries a chewable calcium citrate w/D that is like a big Sweetart, fruit flavored. You can carry these with you and don't have to worry about them melting in the summer heat. Since we have to spread out our calcium intake throughout the day, I found these to be very convenient. There is a Vitamin Shoppe store at Rivergate or you can order online. I have found the people at the store to be very helpful. Much nicer than most of the folks at GNC.
