I am so depressed guys. My surgery was scheduled for tommorrow and my nurse just called and said it was cancelled because my surgeon is sick. She has broken some ribs and has been put to bed because she is pregnant. I want her to be safe and well...............but I am in the depths of depression now. I have been on a 2 week liver shrink diet, and I had been on the clear liquids until the nurse called today. I have absolutely cried my eyes out. My family cannot understand why I am so upset........but it is because I have been working on all of this for so long and looking forward to my new life for a very long time. I am just wondering if other surgeons might consider me if I told them I had all of the paperwork done and was just waiting for surgery. My main problem is that I have medicare and so many doctors won't take it...........someone help me...............I am litterally drowning here.........Do any of you know a bariatric surgeon personally that is in TN???? Nina, I am sorry that happened to you - especially after enduring the pre-surgery diet. Will your surgeon not refer you to another surgeon that will perform the surgery while she is out? Most Dr's will refer you. Have you asked? I do not have medicare so I can not recommend anyone but I would like to think that anyone would do it who uses medicare since you have already been through the entire process. My first thought is to ask your surgeon to refer you or recommend you to an alternative surgeon. Don't get down. It will get done. Just keep fighting for it. Apparently tommorrow was just not your day but your day is coming. Keep your head up. Misty

I am not sure, but I do believe that there is a doctor at Baptist that does take Medicare, therefore you may want to check into them. I hate that this has happened to you, but it will work out!!

Misty gave you some great advice... I'm so sorry this happened to you. But you know, I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. Look at the positives... you've probably lost weight during the diet!! Perhaps you should focus you thoughts and energy on continuing losing weight. Start walking or some other exercise if you can - slow and easy. It will also help boost your mentality and chase away the depression. I sincerely hope everything works out for you

I believe Dr Melvin at Vanderbilt accepts Medicare. Not 100% sure but you can always check! Number for General Surgery Clinic is 322-2063 you may have to leave a message but they should get back with you. Good Luck!!
