Hungry!!!!!
Anyone here notice hunger in the first two weeks of surgery-RNY ???? I am so sensitive to the smells, sounds and sight of food! I could eat a leg off of the dining room table. I'm 7 days out and the scales say I'm losing. I'm getting all of my protein and liquids in. I don't know if this is head hunger or true hunger. It doesn't feel like physical hunger so it must be head hunger. I've cried twice over this since I've been home and I feel so stupid. I know I'm normal because a very good bariatric buddy of mine said that I wasn't crazy.
I can take it on a very good authority but I sure feel like I am! I'm very bored at home. Tonight I finally found the DVD remote so I can watch my Sex in the City DVDs tomorrow. I can't focus enough to read, even a magazine article. It's just been a very tryinng day! I will NOT do anything I'm not supposed to but it just is driving me crazy!!!!!
Just needed to vent and know I'm definitely not crazy!
Thanks,
Janine

Its very normal. I went through both types of hunger. After the first few days after surgery, I had this excruciating pain in my stomach area...by this point, I was only doing clear liquids..I thought well maybe I needed something more solid, so I ate some sf jello...and the pain went away. Then I spent days in the recliner watching foodnetwork, crying...small meltdown. I think I was "grieving" food. Its good to take your mind off of things... especially food. Are you able to do much walking yet?? That seemed to help me a lot... I was walking up and down the street constantly. I'm sure the neighbors thought I was crazy or something lol
Janie,
I had such nausea after surgery up until two weeks ago, now I am 8 weeks out, that I did not care if I ever ate, so I have not experienced this and I sure pray that I don't. However, I will keep you in my prayers. I do know one thing that always helped me and maybe it would help you. I would get some boxes out and go through your closet and you know that since the season is changing there are clothes in there you will never be wearing again. BOX THOSE THINGS UP it will feel so good!!!
If you are like me that will take hours and maybe this will take your mind off the hungar and put you in a very positive prospective. I know that it does me good. I need to do it again, before the protein party, my best friend gave me some clothes and I need to go through the clothes I keep the first time thinking I would be still in them 47 pounds down, boy I was wrong!! YEAH!!
I will keep you in my prayers and maybe this will help and as they say kill two birds with two stones!!
Shelia

Thanks for the advice Sheila and April. I do need to get up and move a little more. I'm getting out and doing things but I need to focus more on ME. I'm getting out and taking the kids places. Had to go get some stretchy capris from Goodys cause the regular pants are hurting my belly. And too I think I have grown out of my clothes last year. Sheila, I was just thinking about the closet thing. I will have something to bring to the clothing exchange. I didn't think I would.
Thanks again girls!
