Do not go to this place.
Greetings Friends,
I want to warn you all of a place that will charge you full price for your food so you all will not go to it. I am only eating less than 3 -2oz. right now. So that is not a lot, three year olds eat more that I do right now. The Golden Corral on Clinton Highway will not let you eat for a kids price. The manager will not even come out to talk to you either so they do not give you a chance to explain to them either.
I was charge $10.00 - $12.00 for one little piece of steak that they over cooked it too. I left over half of it to boot.
I asked for their 800 number to call so I can make this place better for us WLS clients. It took them over 45 minutes to get it to me. I am a very calm and nice person so I waited.
When I got home I called the number and talked to the main man. He understood what us gastric bypass poeple are going through. He is going to make some calls and let me know if I can get a refund on my money and to make it Gastric Bypass friendly for us in the future. I will up date you all in 48 hours when he calls back. He did tell me that I should have been charged only a kids price and not adult price, When I showed them my gastric bypass card. He does not understand what went wrong and will find out. So for the next 2 days you all might want to stay away from the golden corral on clinton Highway, until I find out if they will be gastric bypass friendly to us. I am not a cheap person but i do not think it is fair to be charge a full price when we do not even eat 1/4 of the food. Am I wrong for calling or feeling this way? Please let me know. I just think that when their is like 50,000 to 100,000 us having this surgery yearly, that we should have some places to eat that does not cost us a full price when we do not eat that much.

I got my card from my surgeon. It is laminated and explains the amount of food my stomach can hold now and requests that I be allowed to order a child's portion.
I have never had to use it as most kids menus are not WLS friendly.
I had heard this about the Golden Corral before. If they would allow me to take the remainder of the meal I paid for home it wouldn't be so bad. But, because they are a buffet, you eat it there or leave it and it just isn't right to charge us full price.
Good for you Tina for going to bat for us with corporate. Let us know how things turn out.
Susan
Nicole Fox,
It is a card that informs anyone in the medical field that you had WLS. Plus you show this to place to dine and they give you the kid's price because you can not eat much more and a lot less than a three year old. Just call your doctor's office and ask them about the card. They can send it to you. Plus you save a lot of money with it too. And it let the doctor at the E.R know about your WLS.Well something to that. I do not explain things great right now. But call your doctor's office about it and they will inform you about what it is .

that is exactly why i don't go to buffet type places like the golden corral... just a waste of money
when i do go out to eat, i always get a grilled chicken sandwhich plain, toss the bun, and substitute fries for steamed veggies. No questions asked, no special requests.. I'd rather avoid the hassel... just give me my food dang it!

I have been told by Ryans that if I have this card that they will allow me to get the food off the buffet and they will weigh it and charge me by weight instead of the buffet cost. I called, because my family always goes for Easter and I will be 9 weeks out at Easter and will only be able to eat a couple of bites of fish at that point. I was glad to learn this!! Just a little piece of advice, by the way, they were very nice about it too!!!!
If you go to the Golden Correl in Morristown on West Andrew Johnson HWY, show them your card (mine was given to me from the hospital when I was discharged) you are only charged $3 for a child serving vs. $8.95 for an adult serving. So I go there and just get a bite of what I like or can eat. Justins in Morristown WILL NOT ACCEPT OUR FOOD CARDS. They refuse to accept it as the manager says you can print them off the computer. I'd like to know how when it shows the procedure on the back. Most of the places I have found, will work with you. I just tell them I had stomach surgery and can only eat a child's serving. Best of luck to the rest of you. Love Kathy
