WOW, 4 Days and 4 Meals
I just had to share, I have had one pureed meal a day since Saturday, that is an accomplishment considering that I am six weeks out and have not been eating much due to all the nausea. I had protein oatmeal for two days and refried beans with chicken for two days. I have only been able to eat about 1 or 2 TBSPs, but this is a start. Maybe the nausea is starting to subside and I am on my way to a much better recovery!!! I do know one thing, I sure do feel bloated after I eat, am I eating too much or is this normal, considering I have really only been doing liquids for so long?

I am pre-op with no "been there, done that" advice. However I am hoping that you are getting over all of your nausea and can start eating real food. Sounds like you are headed in the right direction finally.
I can't imagine only being able to eat 2 tablespoons. Right now for me that wouldn't even be an appetizer....LOL.

p.s. By the way, loved reading your profile. Don't forget to keep it updated!
hey there, i am glad to hear that you are able to get a few meals in! i know that, you know how important getting your protein is. It is normal to feel full after a very small amount at first. Take it easy and remember to eat slow, don't pu**** even one bit too much, can make the difference between comfortable and too full. I struggle with that even at almost 10 months out. goodluck sweetie!!!
Hey, I'm so glad you are doing better. Be careful with chicken because it is just naturally dry and can give you problems. As for the bloating...personally, I experience this a lot even at three months out so I think it is normal. Even now if I get really sick for a few days and can't eat like I should so I rely on shakes, when I start back on solids I get that bloated feeling really fast. Good luck!
Woo Hoo, Shelia's eating!!!!!!
I am so happy for you sweetie. Yes, it's normal to only be able to eat a tablespoon or 2. Yes, it's normal to feel bloated after eating. Your stomach has to get used to having food again. Stay with the very moist, very soft pureed and give yourself time to adjust from your extended liquid diet.
Here's to continued success in the return to good health!

Sheila, I am glad to hear that you are feeling a little better. Yes, it is perfectally normal to feel bloated when you first start eating. Just take it one bite at a time and eat really really slowly. I was so worried about it when I started eating pureed that it would take me 30 minutes to eat one scrambled egg. Like Kym said, be careful with the chicken- especially since you are just starting to eat. I was able to use the chicken that was in the "tuna" can and put it in the blender with some spices and sometimes a little mustard and that worked ok for me so if you are going to eat chicken, make sure you are blending it really well. Otherwise stick to the beans and scrambled eggs and even mashed potatoes at this point until you get used to eating. I learned at your stage that I had to "force" myself to eat everyday. I was never hungry and still recovering and still worried about eating and throwing up (which I never did) that I really had to mentally make myself eat a few spoonfuls of something at least twice a day. I think if you can find something that you like and can start eating something every day, you will begin to feel better a little bit more everyday. But until then, just keep up with your fluids. Although not that healthy, mine was taco bells refried beans and at times mashed potates. Now that I am further out, I don't eat the mashed potatoes anymore because of the carb thing but at 6 weeks out, who cares about carbs??
All I cared about was trying to eat. Keep up the good work, you will get there.
