I just heard that Dr. Houston requires $2000 up front before surgery even with insurance approval. Is this true? I sure hope not.

Mine was $250. Call and talk with Holly. Tell her that you heard this, and she will ask a few questions... about insurance, etc. She does his office stuff.... or you could ask for Cheryl Renfroe who is the financial counselor

Thanks guys! The lady that told me that may have been refering to self-pay patients or something, not sure. $250 is much better than $2000.

Melissa, I had to pay that up front also but got most of it back. But I would call anyway. Sue W

Definitely call and ask... typically what you have to pay up front is any deductible that you haven't met for your insurance. Mine was $250 as well but got it all back 3 months after surgery. I also had to pay the hospital whatever my out of pocket maximum was... that was a little over $1,000 but that is all I had to pay. I totaled all my doc bills when they started rolling in... the surgery was a little over $40,000 all together which insurance covered all but the out of pocket maximum. So not a bad deal.

Mine was $250 and I have received some of it back with a promise from my insurance company to get it all back since surgery was approved shortly after that.

When I went to centennial they did say that you have to pay whatever is not covered up front and that is all I remember. Every policy is so different that I would also call and ask more specifically because I didn't and ended up having to pay 200 on something when I was not prepared for it but well worth it I hope. I am still waiting on approval but keep hearing that I have nothing to worry about for getting apprved.

I have Dr David Dyer.... he is in with Dr.Houston and Dr.Olsen His number is ..615-342-5830 they all share the Tace buliding together... Johanna is his receptionist and I did not have to pay Dr Dyer anything at all ... not a penny ....I did have to pay my co pay of 1000.00 at the hospital for the hospital stay . what my insurance did not cover.. and also insurance does not cover the Physo exam, also I had to pay 300.00 up front for that also..Dr Dyer is a fantastic surgeon and a caring man ... I am very happy with my care I did not even have any pain or gas or nausea at all ... he is an excellent surgeon
