Surgery in Mexico.............

I am considering making the trip to Mexico as I would love to do this and be on my way. 50 yrs of dieting is enuf!! I have multiple health issues that NEED this surgery to be done, Just wondering if anyone has used a Lap Bypass doctor there and what their experiences and expenses were............... Karen, Please check this out really well before you decide. There are many people that have gone that way and I've heard both good and bad. The latest one that I know of is StalkerVal. Please read her profile as she has her enitre story on there. Also, there is a message board called "South of the Border" I think, go there and post this. Before my insurance approval, my contingency plan was India. The surgery is performed over there and it's very inexpensive compared to here. I had talked to a couple of people that went there and both had good results. I guess my major issue with going out of the country is follow up care. Make sure your PCP can handle your follow up. I have checked on the San Jose Hospital in Monterrey.......... by the time you stay another week or so and fly down, with a daughter, I'm looking at $17,000............... that's a bit more than I wanna pay!! I saw somewhere that India was about $6,000 for just the surgery............. that definitely sounds, better. I have fought this ole battle all my life, and my patience doesn't want to go thru the waiting and the hassle!! lol...... I appreciate you so much!! Karen

Thanks so much Linda, I appreciate your help and that from everyone on OH!! I have been reading up on the VSG, and think that might be another option, I would consider, with some US doctor's performing that. My youngest daughter would go with me, and would love to go to Mexico, but is also skeptical of my having surgery there!!
