Last week I didn't lose much in the beginning... you know, the whole Starbucks and period issue... I normally lose 4.4 a week average... from Thursday to Tuesday I lost 4 pounds. That's not shocking... but expected. BUT, then I started my protein regimen Weds. I am not lying - I lost 2 pounds in the past two days (1.2 pounds Thursday, .8 Friday). Is that due to the upped protein ?? So I have lost a total of 6 pounds since last Thursday. If its due to protein, Its hard telling how much I could have lost if I would have been able to get it all in these past 4 months. I bet you I only got in 20-30 g ea day. Now I'm getting 80+

Melinda, I have to say that when your protein levels are up, you are less hungry and crave less. So it could very well be true. It could also that you are focusing on your health and protein, where before it was not as much of a focus. With your protein up, you will not want as much carbs too. And who needs starbucks anyway! Regardless, I AM SO VERY PROUD OF YOU! You keep going hon and I expect nothing but wonderful results for you. Now if we can just get Mike on board and away from junk food!!!!! Hugz!

"Who needs Starbucks"???? Fifty percent of my blood volume is Starbucks! Seriously, I drink if for the protein. Melinda, I am so proud of you for getting your protein up so well. You just needed a little help from the protein goddess (Paula). BTW - someone on the main board asked about drinking the AO as a "warm" coffee drink so I tried it...I'll stick with the iced coffee version. Not real crazy about it warmed up.

That is wonderful Melinda!! I haven't had a 6 lb/week loss in forever...I'm jealous! Granted though, I am farther out than you. It is true what Paula says.... focusing on protein will curb any "hunger" or craving for other foods. You're doing great! I use fitday.com to keep track of my calorie and protein intake. It has helped a lot!

I took Susan's advice last Saturday, and joined Fitday. I like it a lot... especially since you can add all the nutritional value in the same box that is on the food jars...

I lost another .6 lb when I weighed today! Sue, I needed some help desperately on my protein. Luckily Paula, Susan and Kym helped me... a good place to start is bariatriceating.com. They have message boards on there that give some great recipes for protein drinks... Susan told me about FitDay.com which she mentioned at the lunch last month... so I started using that. It helps you track all the fat, protein, calories, carbs for your food. I went over on the calories on the first day but learned a lesson... to stay away from high calorie frozen entrees even though the protein may be high... and only use the protein bars when I absolutely have to. They made me go over my calories that day.
