Hi Im new here. My surgery is scheduled for next Fri. Is anyone on the board from near Crossville? I would like to go to a support group but the 2 1/2 hour drive to Nashville makes it almost impossible to go to the support group where I am having my surgery(Baptist) Does anyone know of any closer groups

Congrats on the date! I'm sure that someone can help you find a group closer to home. Good luck and keep us posted.

Hi--I haven't had surgery yet, but there is a support group that meets at the hospital in Cookeville. I've seen info on Centennial's website and a friend of mine who had surgery has been to the meetings in the past. I haven't been to a meeting yet, so I can't tell you much about it--sorry. At least it is closer than Nashville! I'm hoping for surgery soon--going to my PCP on Monday.

Hi I did see where they have a meeting in Cookville at the hospital if you find out about it please let me know I live in Crossville and need to join a meeting also .I am going to Vanderbuilt in Nashville also.

I am happy for you and your upcoming surgery date! I live near Crossville as well, and know that there are support meetings in both McMinnville, and Cookeville. Not sure about Sparta, but at least those two are closer than Nashville/ my thoughts and prayers are with you next Friday (my birthday)!!! I am in the waiting process... I spoke to my insurance company yesterday, and for the first time they actually gave me hope, and told me that I should be hearing something from them early next week... which I said wouldnt that be an awesome birthday present?!?!? You and I both will have birthdays on Friday!! All the best... May you have a blessed rest of the day! Sonya

Can't help you on the support group issue but wanted to congratulate you on your surgery date. I know you are in good hands with Dr. Spaw! This board is a wonderful source of support in between live meetings. Keep us posted of your progress. Susan

Hi Leah, I'm in Cookeville, we have a group who meets at Cookeville Regional Med. Center on the 2nd Wed, of the month @ 5:30pm. Last's about 1 hour but we stay as long as anyone need's to talk or ask guestions. I am also going to have my WLS at Baptist w/Dr. Geroge Lynch. In the next month or two they are going to have one of the surgens from Centinal to speak & answer questions. Would love to see you there. Susan O'
