Dr. Douglas Olsen???? Centennial???
Hi Everybody,
I have no other option except to self pay. I plan on having a RNY at Centennial.
MY friends wife used Dr. Olsen and she was very happy with the service she received.
My question is would any of you care to share your experiences ant Centennial and Dr. Olsen. I would appreciate any and all input.
Thanks, HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!!!
Steve
My doc is Dr. Houston who is in with Olsen. I can only say that I went to a seminar once with Dr. Olsen and he was good. I considered him but then when I had to attend another seminar, saw Dr. H. It was then I made my choice.
I liked Centennial Medical Center. I dont remember much about the surgery admission... I was on good pain medicine... except the one nurse who made me drink all my liquids from the past 3 trays when I wanted my mom to throw them away! I drank all night long to get those things down... then the nice nutritional services lady thought i needed some more and in came a tray full at breakfast!
I was actually re-admitted two times later for dehydration and a stricture. Nurses were still good. But some didn't come around and check on me much. There were the faithful ones... the ones who had surgery themselves and made sure they got around to me. But sometimes I wondered... do they think I went home? I didn't need anything but if I wanted popsicles, I walked my little tail down there to the nurses station and got me one. If I wanted to take a nap, I did... uninterrupted... so I guess its all a matter of all of us being different and needing or wanting or expecting different things? Good luck.
PS - I think insurance companies are anti-Christ. Sorry you have to self pay. OH but ask for the self pay room. Its really nice. Doctors usually try to get the self pay room for their patients. Its got a lit picture over your bed, and the room is rearranged different.
Dr. Olsen was going to be my surgeon, but I had to change due to insurance. I was going to have the lap-band, though, so I can't tell you how good he was at RNY. He seemed to know his stuff, though, and the people that had him as their RNY surgeon at the support group I went to (it was required) thought the world of him.
Hey Steve, My name Is Mike and I had Gastric bypass on 08/08/06. I have lost 130lbs and I feel GREAT! I had surgery at Centennial and they were great, Dr Houston was my Dr. and he is great as well. I to was a self pay and totaly understand why you are paying yourself. I would do it again in a heart beat. I had heart problems and joint pain and this has helped me out greatly. I started out at 383lbs, in a size 52 pants and a 4XL shirt. I now am in a size 38 pants and a xl shirt. This has all happened in 6 months. I am still losing and have about 50lbs more to go. My current weight is 253. If you need to talk or have any question please feel free to ask me. I know this journey will change your life just like it has mine.
