It's probably just me...

I was looking on the upcoming surgery anniversaries today... and wondering what the rny patients success had been. Not a single one of them had after pictures, or kept up their profiles... I then went on to the two year anniversaries. I got tired of clicking and finding the same thing... no after pictures, no upkeep of their profiles... that's sad. You never know where your profile name may show up such as this area, and who might click on it for whatever reason. Do you guys update your profiles? I know you add pictures cause I see them, but I am too tired now to click on a bunch of people's names to see if they are adding info. I think its just me. I like to talk about my surgery. I like to share my pictures with others. I like to read and find out about other people's journeys. This has changed my life. How can I keep it quiet?

i love looking at peoples profiles, when i was pre op it was what kept me motivated to keep going towards surgery. i love seeing other peoples sucess. i have found a lot of people that are 1 year post op with after pics, but after that they seem to be few and far inbetween. i guess the farther you get from surgery, the less you have to share. i write in my blog all the time, its like my personal place to complain or share my sucess, i also try to put monthly pics in, i just added my 9 months post op yesterday, i know i will be one of those people adding there 5 years post op pics, ect...

I have experienced the same thing but I think someone has answered why for me. I kept commenting on peoples blogs and such and getting nothing...then I realized, like you did, that they were way out from surgery. I have a friend who does not post anymore and her profile is the old one so I asked her opinion on why and she said that it was because it was now that the journey had progressed for her, she no longer had to get on here all the time and was much more interested in life "out there" than in online. I understand to a point but I have made such good friends on here that I can't imagine talking with you guys on a regular basis. But that is the difference because she never made friends like that, never met for lunch, had an angel that turned into a friend, etc...so I think we are just such a cool bunch of people that we break the mold!

I am just glad for the OH veterans. They have gone before us and have experienced a lot... for instance, Kathy Newton and Susan Jones. They have both helped tremendously whenever people have questions... and I believe also that this is a support. Like Dr Houston talks about, it is important to have a support system. Now whether I would go to agroup session, not sure... but we did attend one session before surgery and it was "different" for sure. I enjoy the company on here also... I hope that when I am a veteran, I am able to motivate or encourage some newbies.
