What are y'all eating??
Ok, so it seems I have a bottomless pit these past few weeks. I get hungrier often and the amount of food I'm accustomed to doesn't seem to be cutting it...which has led me to bad food choices primarily because I'm so hungry I don't want to deal with cooking something.. this is especially true in the evenings after work, after I get done working out. I think posting what we are eating helps keep us accountable for our choices...as well as follow along the lines of Paula's protein intake post the other day. I participate in a similar posting on the April 2006 board and thought it might also be beneficial here as well. So anyways, here is what I'm eating today - what I have ate or plan on eating. I also feel that if you plan your meals, you're more than likely to stick with it...at least for me.

I have been very unhappy with my lack of weight loss this past month...nothing!!!! Well, I finally figured out through religious journaling that I have been grazing like a jersey cow for the last few weeks...I guess once I recovered and started feeling better I started the old bad habits again. Soooo, I have started really focusing on getting three meals a day, no grazing unless it is planned so it's actually a planned snack, and making sure I get my protein in. I also cleared out the kitchen of the crap I still have trouble resisting. So today's menu was as follows:
AM--AchievOne Cappucino, 20 g. protein, 110 cals.
Lunch---3 ounce chicken breast, 2 tlbsp brocolli, 23 g. protein, 110 cals
snack--.5 ounces string cheese, 4 gr. protein, 35 cals.
Dinner---Matrix Perfect Chocolate protein shake, 22 g. protein, 120 cals.
Total: Protein 69 grams, 375 cals.
This was an unusual day in that I usually get most of my protein from food but today I was on the go for most of the morning and afternoon.
Also, another thing that has helped, like you said, is planning my meals. And I have done the opposite than I used to in that I am really getting into cooking gourmet meals that make me feel really special. I am working through Susan Maria's book and have made most of the seafood recipes. Now I'm working on the chicken since I can tolerate it better...Tandori Chicken is marinating in the fridge for tomorrow as we speak!
Also, only getting in 375 calories can cause your body to go into starvation mode and want to hold on as much as possible, as you may know.... keep that in mind too when your loss stalls and trust me, it will restart
I've tried some of the simpler SM recipes... I rarely have any of the ingredients she calls for on hand. But, I love the products she offers through bariatriceating.com however, I try my best to get as much protein from food. The Turkey meatball Stroganoff recipe is really good! The Big Train pancake mix she sells is like eating a real pancake! I wish I had time to cook more often though. Usually when I get home, I am too tired and lazy!

You know, I've been wondering about my calorie intake...I asked Dr. Houston about it and he said not to worry about it if my protein intake was right but I am still thinking maybe it is too low.
I would love to try the Big Train pancakes but BE has been out every time I try to order it. I just got an order in today and I was just thinking about how I wished there had been some on it...but no...still out.
Dr H sure got onto me when I fessed up about eating cantaloupe. He asked "What's the bottom line?" Like an idiot... I said "weight loss"... wrong answer. "Health?" wrong answer. He reminded me... CALORIES. That's the bottom line... low calories, more weight loss... Lets just say I stopped eating cantaloupe so much but I still eat it here and there... and I never told him HOW much I was eating... he just said he didn't want me eating it for meal replacements... but I was eating some with my cottage cheese.... makes it taste better.
haha Melinda.... you know he is a hard a$$ when it comes down to it, but I think that is why his patients are generally successful... I wouldn't admitt anything to him LOL ...though I've been eating like a major cow lately - ugh vday candy, a little here, a little there. It seems to be a cycle with me though... when the scale doesn't move, it is frustrating so I work harder and push myself harder...I still don't see the results.. and I'm so tired by the end of the week and don't feel like doing anything and fall into a depression and don't give a crap mentality. My next appt w/Dr. Houston is March 8th. I'd like to lose 10lbs by then....we'll see
