Dr. Melvin @ Vandy

Hi everyone... Has anyone had or know of anyone who has had Dr. Willie Melvin at Vandy, as their surgeon? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks... Belinda...

Dr. Melvin did my RNY GBS last Tuesday, 2/6/07. I was really impressed by him at our first meeting, he's very friendly and answered all of my questions very well. He did a great job on my surgery, my incisions look awesome. They're completely flat to the skin, and I don't think the scars are going to be bad at all. My only disappointment with him is that I only saw him that one time. I didn't see him the entire 3 days I was in the hospital. I saw his assitant in pre-op, and roving groups of interns after surgery. I'm sure he was busy, but I thought I would at least see him once. My follow up with him is this Thursday, so I'll talk to him about it then. I would feel comfortable recommending him to my friends. Good luck! Rae

Good morning Belinda I read all your posts about Medicare and Dr Dyer , I then called Dr Dyer's office to see what was going on and yes .. they said until all the issues are settled with Medicare .. he is not going to accept any new patients .. I had to have a letter of concern from my PCP and documented proof of previous weight loss diets in first. to Dyer's office .. then I got a call from Dyer's office telling me I was accepeted ..... the, they sent me a large packet & I had to fill out the questionaire and send it back in while i was waiting for my consultation i had my pcycho testing done and sent in .. .. have you gotten this far?? have you already met DrDyerfor your consultaion??? have you have your phycho evalution yet? and last but not least were you told he would take you as a patient ?? I know medicare is really being weird on paying for this weight loss surgery..after they said it had all been approved, dont know what is going on or why they are dragging thier feet many people have been getting RNYs thru medicare for many years .. but they just added the lap- band last Feb. I have the lap band and must say Dr Dyer and his aftercare is wonderful iI am doing terrific and am very pleased with Centennial and Dr Dyer sure hope it all works out for you .. was wondering if you now have an appointment with Dr Melvin at Vandy and have your papers transferred over?? I wish you all the best .. I can understand how frustrating all this must be for you ... Please do not give up ..just keep on going
