Medicare

I found out today that Dr. Dyer is not accepting patients with Medicare at this time. After waiting, and meeting all of the criteria needed by Medicare for RNY, I can not have surgery with Dr. Dyer why? Because Medicare has not paid Dr. Dyer in over 7 months. and until they do he will not take on any medicare patients, which I do understand and do not blame him at all. My anger is entirely directed at Medicare, being self employed, I paid my taxes, and prayed I would never have to use Medicare or see disability, and now that I am disabled and must use Medicare I can not rely on them. I wanted to tell anyone who may be waiting on an appointment at Centennial, or any other surgeon and has medicare, and can not understand the delay, check and make sure it isn't because Medicare has not paid your doctor, but if they have not please get angry enough at medicare to send letters of complaint to them and to your senators and your representives in Washington. I really did not want to go somewhere else for my RNY, , but it looks like I may have to. Back to the drawing board. one more time. Blessings to all Belinda

i think vanderbilt takes medicare paitents. i had my surgery there and i think the surgens are amazing. i know they are considered a center of excellance so medicare should accept them. i am not 100 percent sure, but i would give them a call. i am so sorry you are having to switch, i know you must be upset! dont worry everything will work out! take care and keep us posted! hugs, jacqui

Thanks Jacqui for the hug and the support, I was on the phone to Vanderbilt and Baptist as soon as I had posted my comment. I let the anger go and turned it into determination. I, as everyone else on here, have worked to long to let this (or anything else) set me back for more than a minute or two, in order to see that I get 'my date'. I just needed to blow off some steam and knew everyone here would understand. Blessings to all.... Belinda

Did you ask about Dr.Houston and Dr.Olsen? I know they were taking it as of a couple of weeks ago because I have a friend doing it through them and using Dr. HOuston if I am remebering right. Worth a try!

Thanks Kym and Melinda for your responses, all support is appreciated. Dr. Dyer is the only doctor at Centennial that accepted Medicare. I don't blame him at all for his decision. I know that the Lord led me to have this surgery and He will provide and He has, just this morning I received a call from Vanderbilt. All things in His time...just have to be more patient in mine. Thanks again to you both. God's Blessings for you and yours.... Belinda

Dr. Houston doesn't take Medicare. Not sure about Olsen. Sounds like Dr. Dyer's office needs to get a collector that will go after Medicare with all they got...to collect on the accts.
