question about major pain
Hello..has been a while since I have been on here. I am almost 2 yrs post op and all of a sudden am in extreme pain. Everything I eat or drink causes great pain..in fact just breathing seems to hurt..kind of like the pain you feel if you overeat..but it is almost continuous making eating almost impossible. Has anyone experienced this before? Any ideas on what might be causing this? I have recently moved to ohio and no longer have a doctor so am a bit nervous but hope someone here can help. Thank you!
Dawn
Hi Dawn, you are looking great. I am almost 13 months out, but everytime I eat or drink, I have a lot of pain just below my breast plate. So far no one has been able to find what is going on. It's an intense burning double over in pain. I have been thru the ct scans, hospitalized, x-rays, all but an MRI, but if you find out first please let us know. I am moving to Nashville tomorrow, but I'm still on the board. I made my goal weight. Have gone from 277 to 130 lbs. The chemo is aging me faster, but I still hang in there.
Keep in touch girl, and if you do get some answers, please pass them on. Love Kathy
Congratulations Kathy! You look amazing!! In response to your problem, have you had your galbladder out? The burning and pain you talk about sounds like what I went through 5 mths postop when they did the surgery to remove my galbladder.
If I find out anything I will post it for you. Keep up the good work you have done amazingly! Keep your chin up with your chemo! You are still in my prayers.
Love,
Dawn
Just a newbie observing here - Is it possible that you have something stuck in your stoma? I have had a similar feeling when I am eating soup and gulp it instead of chewing the meat. It lasts until I get the stuff "unstuck" - which could be 5 minutes, and could be 1 hour. And it is misery. Have you eaten any large bites of tough stuff (beef jerky, etc.) or taken a large pill lately?
HTH - Brian
Brian, thank you for your response, I have experienced what you are talking about so I know what you mean however this is constant making it impossible to eat. Today I tried some very thin mashed potatoes and even that hurt. I have gone down 4 lbs in the last 3 days..first weightloss in months and I assume is due to not eating. When the stoma got clogged before I used the "drano" mixture my sugeon gave me of meat tenderizer lemon juice and ho****er and usually worked like a charm.
Best of luck to you! TY for responding!

Hello. Welcome to the site. First my wellness specialists told me of a lady they knew... she had surgery 4 yrs. ago. She got to where she could not eat anything, only drink,... then nothing would go down. Don't know about pain she had or not had... but come to find out, she had been eating snow peas... they would not digest. It had accumulated into a snow pea bolus in her pouch. She had to have them removed.
Have you been eating snow peas or something else that wont digest? Let us know what happens.
