Anti depressants made me sick again!

Well, after getting my medication two weeks ago in a compound oral suspension...it made me sick again! I've been gagging on the medication, and it's been so harsh on my stomach. Any ideas on what to do? or should I switch medication? Does anyone else take Effexor? How does it set with your stomach.

I had to stop taking Effexor, I was taking the maximum dosage, so you may want to talk with your DR and see if a smaller dosage is available and try it. I had to switch meds. I am now taking Elavil 50mg & Cymbalta 60mg. Hope this helps. Darlene

Thank you so much, this does help. I needed to hear from someone else who was on effexor and know I wasn't crazy for feeling so blech!

Darlene, Do you take pills or capsules or do you have to crush your meds still? Just curious. Thanks. -Alyssa

I take the elavil as is, my dr told me if it was smaller than an aspirin i could take as it is, the Cymbalta comes in a capsule and i just open it up, but not pour it in my mouth. I just take the whole capsule after I have opened it. Darlene

Hi Alyssa, I have never been on that type of medicine as an anti-depressant, I take paxil and trazadone, but to keep from getting sick I have to take my pills with milk, water or juice will make me throw up everytime. That's not healthy for me, it caused me to lose my weight too fast, but having leukemia and on chemo pills, I won't survive much longer if I don't take my pills. So I make sure I have at least 3 ozs of milk in the morning and at night. Puts a coding on my pouch and helps keeps the pills down. Try that and see if it helps you keep from getting sick. You're in my prayers, Kathy
