I went to Dr. Rutledge's weight-loss seminar last night. I still think that WLS is the right thing for me, and I have called my regular doc this morning to request my letter. My first appointment with Dr. Rutledge is scheduled for Feb 12th. I'm so excited and so worried all at the same time. The only thing that is worrying me is the documentation of previous weight-loss attempts. Most of what I have done has been one my own.... I fear that this might be a problem with insurance. I know that I don't have 3 years of documented weight-loss attempts. I hope that doesn't mean that I have to wait the 3 years to get documentation!!!

Yah!!!! I am hoping all the best for you! I think God is allowing us to be so blessed to get healthy because we have always been the underdogs in life, so to speak. I thought I was going to have a problem with that as well because I just gave up on dieting and just figured that I would have to do the best that I caould living because I could not succeed at losing the weight on my own but my PCP wrote her letter and submitted it and that's when I got my letter from Centennial telling me that my insurance hasd been verified and that I would be covered 100%. I have to say it's all about having that "I will have this" attitude. I carry that on my shoulder and that's what I live by. If after I have prayed about it and consulted with God about it and I still have that go for it feeling in me then I usually go and don't stop until I get it. Continue to be the go-getter that I feel you are. You and I will be sitting on the losers bench in no time.......lol Always keep your head up! May GOD continue to bless each and every one of us in abundant ways.

Thanks for the support. I have a "go-getter" attitude! This is something that I have prayed about for a long time, and once I found that inner peace with God I have never looked back. I made my decision to talk to my doctor as my New Year resolution and so far everything seems to be following into place. I've just got to keep thinking positive thoughts, thanks for that reminder!

Check your PCP's files. Many times, your chart there will have a weight for every visit. Here in beautiful EAst TN, I get 4 sinus infections a year whether I need them or not, so the weights from the chart helped with the paperwork for WLS. Best regards, Brian

Kristen, Congrats on the beginning of your journey! I hope everything goes well for you. Just to let you know some of my weight loss attempts were on my own as well and only a few were actually documented and I was still approved. Best Wishes!!

Good News! I just called Curves and they still have stuff on me from almost 2 years ago. I'm going to go by and pick it up on Monday! I know it's not much, but atleast it's something!

Well, most of the stuff I did was on my own too, sweetie, and I was approved. I also didn't have three years of documented weight loss attempts. What I had to do was go to my PCP for six consecutive months to prove I had tried something that was doctor supervised. On February 13th I will have my first anniversary of the surgery so it wasn't that long ago. I realize that some things have changed in that time, but hopefully you won't have to wait that long. Another thing I did was send a full length photo of myself so it was obvious I was really obese. Here's hoping it all works out...hang in there and don't get discouraged. If this is truly what you want, you just keep pushing till it works! Melanie
