Newbie on board here.
Hello, everyone! I appreciate everyones reply and support. I feel a little more at ease now. :-) Everyone seems to be so understanding and kind to everyones feelings and I am so glad I found you all on here. I sure do need all of the help and support I can get right now. I never in a million years thought I would actually go through a surgery like this because I am so scared of the knife. I realized that my health and family were more important than my fears. I had a nerve racking day today though. My original visit with Dr. Morton and also going to get all of the testing done was suppose to be on Dec 14 and they called 3 hours ago and changed it to Dec 20. My surgery is on Dec 28. It was so hard for my husband to get off from work on the previous date to begin with and then they changed it. I was a little worried :-(that I would have to rescheldule my surgery and all, but it all worked out thank God. Please say some prayers for me because here lately my nerves have been shot. I used to be a hair stylist at Macys for 12 years and had to quit because of my back problems and not having someone to keep my 3 year old. I have been at home now since March and gained more weight and now I am the biggest I have ever been. I know once I have this surgery it will be the best thing I could have ever did. I am having a positive attitude about it and being very optimistic. I have noticed alot of people that are on the message boards are getting very frustrated with the Lap Band more than anything and I wanted to know if there are some positive things that someone can tell me about their experience and tell me what to expect to feel like when I finally come home from the hospital and the eating part of it. Remember you guys I haven't saw my doctor as of yet. I guess I am trying to get ahead of the game, LOL I appreciate your time and I wish all of you the best and I will be praying for each and everyone of you!
Hugs & Kisses to all!
Talina
It's normal to be nervous about having any procedure. The definiton of "minor surgery" is something that happens to somebody I've never heard of.
When you get to the holding area pre[surgery, just tell the anesthesiologist or the nurse anesthetist that you want some of the "I don't care juice."
I'll be thinking of you and praying for your good results

Hi Talina, what a pretty name. A few years ago, my veins were so weak they couldn't get an IV started, I was taken into surgery and they gave me gas and oxygen and I was out, then they got an IV started to keep me out.
When I had my gastric bypass last January, My Dr. started a central line which was painful for me as it's in the juggler vein, he does that with most of his patients. The Dr. with the good drugs was waiting to give me the twilight to put me to sleep. I was still in the holding room, that was at 8:30am, I woke up in my hospital room around noon. Never new when I was wheeled into the OR or recovery, have no knowledge of that. I was totally out before I even went into the OR. They do this several times a day and know their stuff real good. Most will use what is a white knock out drug, I call it twilight or breakfast depending on the time of day. Within 3 seconds you are totally a sleep. Picture taking a couple of sleeping pills or a couple of strong pain pills how they make you sleep, that's about how you will feel except it will hit you faster then the sleeping pills or pain killers. You are in all our prayers so you have us here to support you and Jp and any other newbie. This is the best board, and we have regular get togethers in the Nashville area. They are having one on Saturday evening, you might to check with Susan Jones posting about it.
It's fun meeting your new friends from this site. Merry Christmas and just remember the word thin, new bathing suit in the summer, and you'll get thru the sugery in a breeze.
I am a Christian, and I pray for everyone on here, including those I've never met. But I have met them in my heart.
Be happy no worries you are in God's hands and He didn't bring you this far to let anything happen to you. I have leukemia a cancer of my blood and it's a rare form of Leukemia and God sent me a surgeon to do my surgery. If he brings you too it, he will see you thru it.
Merry Christmas and remember one thing, this will be a New's years resolution you can't break. Kathy
