Are you doing what is best for you today?

After going to the OH conference in Lex, I have noticed that alot of us wls folks still do not put ourselves first and do what is best for us. So, I want to encourage you all to do something special for yourself today and then share what you did. Each of you are special and wonderful and deserve good things. We alone can make that happen. Whether you take time for yourself, go buy yourself some inexpensive flowers, take a bubble bath for some alone time, write yourself a love letter....whatever you do...just make the effort to do something special for YOU! Now, I do not mean getting a donut or running up the credit card (THis would be bad!!! ) Lets think positive and healthy! For some of us it may be getting back on track with our program. For some of us it may be standing up to a bully for ourselves. Toot your own horn sorta thing. I will be glad to start. Today, I have reconnected with an old friend that I have not heard from in a LONG time. This has made my day. Good luck to you and I cant wait to see what you guys come up with!

I haven't done anything TODAY but...Yesterday in Sam's I splurged on a cashmere cowl neck sweater. Even though it was more than what I would normally spend on a sweater, it was still half of what the stores like Macy's & Kohl's are advertising the cashmere for right now. In the past I would not have spent that kind of money on a sweater because I always thought I wouldn't be wearing it long. You know...by next Winter (Spring, Summer, Fall) I will have lost weight. I'll wait until I get to my ideal weight and buy some really nice things then. This sweater may or may not fit when I get to goal. That's okay! If it doesn't fit I'll put it up for grabs here on the forum. BTW - It's a LARGE!!!!!!!!!! And so-o-o-o-o-o soft!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Susan

hi this is written one handed, so please bare with me. I had a lymph node removed this morning, but I did do something nice to myself in getting ready to go to the hospital. I was able to get most of the frizz from the chemo out of my hair today and it really looked great. Plus I bought me for $1 over the weekend a long sleeve warm shirt in a size small and it buttoned all the way down. I was excited about that and my hair when I went to the hospital. Both made me feel better knowing I was having a lymph node removed, a real boost to my self esteem. love Kathy 299/277/149/130 prior to surgery/day of surgery/current/goal

Laura, so does that mean they placed all the dogs or that they just have it under control now? Will your eyesight permit you to volunteer at another shelter or anything like that?

All but about 17 dogs and 20 cats were placed with new owners . the rest went to clinics for more treatment or to rescue shelters in the area . . so Operation Animal Hope has ended . I would love to volunteer if I am needed again . I do have the trouble that I don't drive so it would have to be close to the house . Sissy volunteered this time but 2 weeks has wiped her out . She has MS and has some trouble with chronic fatique sydrom and working so much has caused a flare up of some of her other symtoms Laura

Sorry to hear Sissy is suffering through a flare up. After meeting her, I have to believe that she would be willing to do it all over again to help those little critters though. Please give her my love. Susan
