OT-Just had to share a too-cute moment with everyone.
I am the volunteer leader of a Brownie Girl Scout troop with ages ranging from 6 to 9 years old, and Friday night we had a "slumber party/pj party" at our Scout Cabin. After we had all watched movies and ate pizza, my co-leader and I finally got our girls down for the night. Well, these girls were down but they were not down for the count as they all quickly filled the room with the staccato sounds of 7 little behinds letting off some "steam", LOL! Well, in the morning, I just couldn't resist teasing them all about it, and I told them all that they helped ward off the boogies with their noise-makers. All of them got it after a little while except for my youngest, Izabelle, who is six years old. I finally just said,"you had some gas last night, sweetie" and she got this horrified look on her face. She says, "oh, no, Ms.Kym, I shouldn't have wasted gas, it's so 'spensive these days!" I thought I would just die laughing!
I was a Brownie, Junior, Cadette, and Senior as a youngster but I just took over as a leader for the last school year and this one. Last year was horrible! Parents who complained about $2 dues, a co-leader who gossiped about me, falsely!, parents who got mad because we didn't have a regular meeting place and dropped out. I wasn't going to do it again but the council leader begged me and promised me a new co-leader. Now it is wonderful. My mom was council leader when I was a girl and she said I would love it when I found my groove and she was right. Now, we have a great group of kids, good parents, supportive co-leader, and a regular meeting place. Such a difference! Now, I am having as much fun as my daughter is!
I went all the way through from Brownies to Senior too! I loved being a Girl Scout, I guess I still am a GS.
My mom still has my sash (somewhere) with all of my badges and my T.O.F.S. patch. Since my dad was military, I got that patch while we were stationed in Germany. It stands for Troops On Foreign Soil.
My husband was my co-leader for the 3 years I led a Brownie troop. He's a card carrying Girl Scout!
Out of 12 girls in the troop, we couldn't get one mother to help so he stepped in. They all wanted their girls involved in scouts but they couldn't make time to be involved with them. It was sad. Our girls were such sweethearts!
We took our certification training for overnights from Happy Birdsong back in the early 80's and earned a Clean Jean's badge during our training.

My husband wants to be a co-leader as soon as his work allows it. Right now, I have 3 co-leaders and I love them all. One is a mom, the other is her hubby, and the third is another dad! I just love seeing them all get involved. Another of my fathers is our sponsor so he is there a lot as well. You have a great GS history! I love the TOFS story, I had never heard of that. Well, I guess I will see you tomorrow!
