Hello!! It's me. Melinda
I have been off pain meds for a few days now... and when I signed on to O.H. today, I wondered, "am I still having hallucinations?" It looked so different and someone it said I had one message, and that they asked if they could be added on my friends list, and I thought, Lord I sure have not reviewed this site enough to know that they had invitiations for friends...." Still not sure about that one....
I'm still on clear liquids. Frankly I am ready to progress to the protein shakes but that is not until this Thursday. Sugar Free popsicles have broken my mouth out for some reason, I gag at the thought of even looking at a jello and have not been able to eat one since I came home from the hospital, and decaf tea with unflavored unjury has a terrible texture that makes me want to hurl. On a better note, I've lost 15 pounds in 5 days. I had to get some things at the grocery store and OMG I had such head hunger!!! I wanted to rip open a bag of swiss cheese, then a blueberry muffin in the bakery case, then a bagel, a chocolate cake in the bakery, anything and everything. I knew I wasn't hungry but the memory of how it used to taste...
So today I prepared Sunday dinner for my family. I made sure they had everything they needed all during the meal, and I did not want to eat it. I did not even lick my fingers one single time!! I bought all kinds of stuff that I really wanted to eat... then I fixed it and then made them eat it! Did my heart proud.
I sounds like you are feeling pretty good except for the mouth sores. I hope that gets better very quickly. I couldn't handle jello post-op. Both times I had a bite of it in the hospital, I gagged and I haven't touched it since.
You'll be able to have all those things you mentioned, someday. You may find at that time that you no longer want them. I've had a bite or two of everything you mentioned and one bite was enough. Those things just don't call to me anymore, except for the swiss cheese. Any kind of cheese makes my whiskers twitch!

One more thing - about the Unjury in tea...
You have to make sure the water is not too hot or the protein powder will curdle. I learned this the hard way the first time I made hot chocolate (SF) with PP. The liquid you mix with the powder can be no hotter than what you normally pour from a coffee pot. If you're like me when brewing tea, I bring the water to a full boil.
You'll be on full liquids before you know it. Hang in there! Fifteen pounds in 5 days is great!
