Please Help! Centennial patients...
Hello, please help...anyone out there who has used Centennial please give me some advice. I have my consult with Dr. Houston on November 1. I am worried that I won't be able to complete all my pre-op requirements by December and I really need to have it done by then so I don't have to start over paying everything. I have already met my deductible this year as well as my huge out of pocket maximum so this is really important. Is there anything I need to start doing now? Liquid diet, shakes, anything like that...I have already quit smoking so that is not an issue. I know no one can offer any medical advice, I'm just trying to find out what most of the clinics patients have experienced. What kind of pre-op test can I expect? Thanks so much in advance for the help!
Hey Kim,
I think we met at one of Dr. Fryer's lunch time sessions.... you wanted to be a park ranger??
lol Anyways... don't worry. I had surgery w/Dr. Houston. He only required a two day liquid diet prior to surgery. It really wasn't that hard. Also, I didn't have to do a bowel prep like most surgeons require either. I have my whole experience at the hospital posted in my profile as well as some pictures. As for the pre-op testing. It is really simple (at least for me) Two weeks prior to surgery, you'll go to a nutritional class - more like a one on one with a nutritionist at centennial. Then you'll go over to the Women's Hospital for pre-op testing which was simply a few vials of blood and an EKG. The worst was just sitting there waiting for you to be called back. I didn't really experiment with protein drinks prior to surgery or anything like that... the only regret, I wish I lost a little bit of weight before hand...but I let the piggy out and got really really lazy those few weeks before. Good luck!
